Disneyland Resort in California is in the middle of an unprecedented period of growth that will bring huge expansions to the theme parks and massive infrastructure upgrades for guests arriving by car. At the same time, the resort’s new leadership continues to maintain the parks with smaller, ongoing refreshment projects.
In this story, we’re taking a look at every active project at Disneyland in order from big to small. Note that these are not necessarily in reverse-chronological opening order, but rather the descending order of their construction scale. Sometimes those qualities amount to the same ordering, but not always. Eastern Gateway
Disneyland Resort is investing in many guests’ arrival experience to its property with a project called the Eastern Gateway. East of the theme parks, on the site of a former cast member parking lot and administrative building, Disney will construct a new parking garage, rideshare pick-up/drop-off area, and security checkpoint, along with a new pedestrian bridge that will traverse over Harbor Boulevard and connect this massive complex to the front gates of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure.
The new 8-level parking deck will encompass 3,257,394 square feet, according to permits filed with the city of Anaheim, fitting 6,000 parking spaces.

The former cast member parking lot closed this summer, and ground was broken on the future parking structure in August 2026.
Tomorrowland Overhaul
Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park will be reimagined in a transformation that will introduce new attractions, not just update existing experiences. Walt Disney Imagineers are looking to the optimistic futurism of Tomorrowland’s early years for inspiration.
The project is very early in development. While the exact scope of the Tomorrowland reimagining hasn’t been revealed and may not even be decided yet, seemingly the entire land is on the table for changes, making it the biggest of Disneyland’s projects at the moment.
Imagineers shared insight with Mickey Visit into their big-picture vision for this overhaul when the project was announced in August 2026.
Avatar
A new theme park land based on the Avatar movies is coming to Disney California Adventure. The headliner of this area will be an indoor/outdoor boat ride situated within and around a huge mountainous architecture and waterfalls.
The land will replace a portion of Disney California Adventure’s Hollywood Land, including the park’s family-friendly Monsters, Inc. ride. It will also replace Disneyland’s transportation hub, adjacent to Monsters, Inc. but currently categorized as outside of the park. This is a sizable parcel of land.
Depending on how much of Tomorrowland the Imagineers are attempting to reimagine with that land’s update, Avatar may end up being the larger of the two projects from a construction standpoint, but it’s hard to say for sure this early in the process. Notably, Disney recently shifted priorities and will focus on Tomorrowland before Avatar.

Avengers Campus Expansion
Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure is expanding with two new attractions.
Avengers Infinity Defense will be a ride combining large physical sets with screens to depict a battle against King Thanos, a variant of the Marvel villain that hasn’t appeared in the movies. Stark Flight Lab will be a thrill ride that flings guests through the air on a robotic arm, simulating superheroes’ flight patterns. A roster of famous Marvel actors are reprising their roles for the new attractions.
Both Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab will share a new building under construction, totaling 110,000 square feet in what was previously backstage space.
Coco Ride
A new ride based on Pixar’s Coco is coming to Disney California Adventure. Guests will join Miguel and his family as they relive some of their favorite memories, including Miguel’s voyage to the Land of the Dead.
The attraction will reside in a new building currently under construction behind Incredicoaster, near Paradise Garden Grill. This was formerly a backstage area. The project also required Disney to reconfigure a pedestrian walkway just outside of Disney California Adventure’s borders. The ride is going to take up all the space it can get.
Porto’s Bakery & Café
The popular Southern California pastry chain Porto’s Bakery & Café is opening a new location at Disneyland Resort. The restaurant will be on the eastern side of Downtown Disney, close to the front gates of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, and construction is ongoing.
To accommodate the arrival of Porto’s, Disney closed and demolished the former Earl of Sandwich building and multiple ticket booths in this area. In turn, Earl of Sandwich opened a new permanent location elsewhere in Downtown Disney earlier this year, complete with an upstairs British pub from Chef Gordon Ramsay.
The now-demolished Earl of Sandwich and ticket booths totaled 4,340 square feet. The new Porto’s will be at least that big, and that doesn’t account for it being two stories.
Arthur & Sons and Pearl’s
Two new eateries from Chef Joe Isidori are coming to Downtown Disney: the table service Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon restaurant, and the quick service Pearl’s Roadside BBQ dining location.
Arthur & Sons and Pearl’s will share a new building being constructed on the former site of Tortilla Jo’s, which closed in 2024 and has since been demolished. The new building will take up 11,400 square feet of restaurant space and 2,879 square feet for an outdoor covered seating area.
Following the closure of Tortilla Jo’s, three new Mexican concepts by Chef Carlos Gaytán opened in Downtown Disney: Céntrico, Tiendita, and Paseo.
Grand Californian Concierge Lounge
A new concierge lounge is coming to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Disney is in the process of enclosing the hotel’s 3,836-square-foot fifth-floor patio and transforming it into the lounge, as well as building new kitchen, pantry, and restroom spaces.
The project will also include a 165-square-foot outdoor niche and a 65-square-foot balcony. Disney is remodeling three guest rooms for plumbing walls as part of the construction.
Bopo Go!
Bopo Go!, a new concept from Eric and Philip Wang, is coming to Downtown Disney as a spinoff of the Wangs’ Southern California chain Bopomofo Café.
Bopo Go! will serve boba tea and light bites, and its interior theming will be inspired by Asian convenience stores.
The new 1,200-square-foot location takes the place of Jamba, which closed earlier this year after 23 years at Downtown Disney.
Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree
Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, a quick service restaurant in Bayou Country at Disneyland Park, is being expanded with additional seating on its ground floor.
Construction is ongoing, with walls surrounding what was formerly part of a walkway. The new seating will provide nice views of the Rivers of America. The restaurant remains open as the work continues.
Bountiful Valley Brews
A new kiosk called Bountiful Valley Brews is coming to Disney California Adventure. This new location will serve light bites and alcoholic beverages. Its name is a throwback to Bountiful Valley Farm, a defunct attraction of Disney California Adventure’s early years.
Bountiful Valley Brews will be located along the Performance Corridor, between Carthay Circle and the entrance to Avengers Campus, across from the waterfall. The project will encompass a 370-square-foot serving counter and a 140-square-foot walk-in cooler.
Non-Construction Projects
Beyond construction of new buildings and remodeling of existing spaces, Disneyland has a few other projects in the works that can’t necessarily be quantified by square footage or size.
The holiday season will return to both theme parks from November 13, 2026, through January 6, 2027, with favorite live entertainment and ride overlays.
All of the Autopia cars at Disneyland Park are being converted from gas-powered engines to electric. This initiative is a mandate from the California Air Resources Board and is unrelated to the larger Tomorrowland transformation project. Disney is required to either close the ride for updates or convert all of the attraction’s engines by February 1, 2027.
Also in February, the classic Remember…Dreams Come True fireworks show will return to Disneyland Park, and an updated version of the original World of Color nighttime water spectacular will debut at Disney California Adventure.
In summer 2027, the Magic Happens daytime parade will return to Disneyland Park for the first time since 2024.
