DISNEYLAND UPDATE! Construction Advances Ahead of Entire Land CLOSING & Beginning of Pixar Fest
There are a lot of exciting new offerings coming to Disneyland this Spring as the resort gears up for the multi-month Pixar Fest that will be starting at the end of this month! Last week, we were already seeing the first signs of Pixar Fest at the resort with cute new decorations popping up, and the food guide for the event was released with a surprisingly huge amount of items.
Disneyland will also soon be temporarily closing down Critter Country starting at the beginning of May for construction that will introduce two new Princess and the Frog shops to the area. We're seeing steady progress on the exterior of Tiana's Bayou Adventure as well as work continues on the attraction.
Keep scrolling for a photo update of the construction progress at the parks, a look at some of the Pixar Fest festivities being set up, and more!
Pixar Fest Decor/Shows Getting Set Up
More fun Pixar Fest decor has been added to Main Street U.S.A. ahead of the festival's starting date, which you can see below with these new banners that have arrived. You can see everything you need to know about the upcoming Pixar Fest in our guide!
Also at Disneyland Park, Disney is in the process of setting up the decor for the Pixar Pals Playtime Party at the Fantasyland Theatre. The Pixar Pals Playtime Party will feature a high-energy show, interactive games, photo locations, and activities inspired by Pixar feature films, and visitors will be able to watch a selection of shorts on the big screen.
See the concept art below for an idea of what you can expect from the finished product:
In the Esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, Disney is in the process of setting up a sculpture celebrating friendship and highlighting the Pixar Ball that will be over 25 feet tall. Construction walls are up, but here is a peek at the progress that has been made on it so far:
In Downtown Disney, there is also a cute new Pixar Fest photo op that has arrived.
There is also another cool photo op being offered in Downtown Disney (unrelated to Pixar Fest) promoting the three-part series Secrets of the Octopus.
Critter Country Temporarily Closing Soon/Tiana's Bayou Adventure Construction
There is a lot of construction currently happening over on the west side of the park between the Haunted Mansion's grounds expansion and the work on Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Disney recently announced that Critter Country, minus the Hungry Bear restaurant but including the Winnie the Pooh attraction, will be temporarily closing starting May 1 for construction to add two new shops inspired by Princess and the Frog in advance of the opening of Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

The left-hand side of Pooh Corner will be turned into Louis' Critter Club, which will offer apparel, accessories, home decor, and more featuring favorite critters and Princess Tiana. The Briar Patch will transform into Ray’s Berets, where guests can shop for headwear, apparel, accessories, toys, and more with Ray and his firefly kin.
Make sure to visit the Critter Country area before it temporarily closes for construction to introduce these new additions! Disney has not yet announced when the area will be reopening.
