Two New Disneyland Retail Shops

Tiana's Bayou Adventure construction Disneyland

As the construction of Splash Mountain's replacement Tiana's Bayou Adventure makes progress with an opening slated for later this year, Disneyland has announced the addition of two new retail shops that will be inspired by Princess and the Frog. This is part of a larger retheming to Princess and the Frog that has been taking place in the area, with the Tiana's Palace restaurant being the most recent addition.

This announcement first came as the Haunted Mansion was also closed for construction to introduce an expanded outdoor queue and a new retail shop near the attraction’s exit. These new Princess and the Frog shops caused the entire Critter Country land to close until parts of it reopened in late August.

The two Princess and the Frog-themed retail shops in Critter Country will be inspired by two favorite characters from the movie: Ray the firefly and Louis the crocodile.

Briar Patch at Disneyland

The Briar Patch will turn into Ray's Berets, where guests can shop for headwear, apparel, accessories, toys, and more with Ray and his firefly kin. See the concept art below for the new shop. The firefly decor on the outside of the shop looks like a nice touch, and the rhyming name is fun!

Rey's Berets at Critter Country

Further into Critter Country, there will be a new shop called Louis' Critter Club (which is currently the left-hand side of Pooh Corner) that the critters of Tiana's Bayou Adventure call their home away from home. At Louis’ Critter Club, guests can shop for apparel, accessories, home decor, and more featuring favorite critters and Princess Tiana!

See the concept artwork for Louis' Critter Club below. This new Disneyland retail shop looks like a really cute, cozy environment!

Disney shared that Louis' Critter Club will open on November 13, a couple of days ahead of Tiana's Bayou Adventure's official opening on November 15. The opening is early, but we would not be surprised if it were even earlier due to the Magic Key previews.

Louis' Critter Club shop

The treats side of the favorite Critter Country shop Pooh Corner will still remain for guests to enjoy sweets and merchandise. The Critter Country area will temporarily close for construction beginning May 1, 2024 to make way for these new additions.

When the land closes on May 1, the Hungry Bear Restaurant will remain open but The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh will close. No changes are planned for the Winnie the Pooh attraction but we do hope that they take the time to freshen up the attraction to make use of the downtime. No reopening date has been shared for the land or new attraction yet. We hope that they reopen the land before they open the new attraction as the new attraction isn't slated to open until late 2024 though we anticipate that this area will be closed for months until the new attraction opens.

This means that a major area of the park will be closed off to guests for a time between the construction happening for the Haunted Mansion in New Orleans Square and the construction in Critter County for Tiana's Bayou Adventure and these two new retail shops. This is one of the reasons why Disneyland added Pirates of the Caribbean temporarily to Genie+. Visitors will want to keep this in mind when considering when to visit Disneyland this year.
