Disneyland Pride Month & GayDays: Food Guide, Merch, Events

Disneyland Pride Month is a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community and takes place through the entire month of June. Disneyland celebrates each year with themed food items and pride merchandise, and this year brings a brand new Disneyland After Dark Pride Nite event.

There is also an unofficial GayDays Disneyland celebration that happens during June. We have all the details on these official and unofficial celebrations of Pride Month at Disneyland.

Gay Days Disneyland 2023

Disneyland Gay Days

Gay Days have been a tradition at Disneyland since 1998 which was based on its sister event in Orlando, Gay Day, which attracts around 100,000 guests from around the world every June.

The 2023 Gay Days Anaheim takes place September 22nd-24th at Disneyland.

Similar to the Orlando event, Gay Days Anaheim is a “mix in” which means the event takes place during general Disneyland operating hours and this is not a private Disneyland Pride Month event. Eventgoers wear red shirts to identify each other and show their numbers in the park. Gay Days Anaheim draws about 30,000 guests to the Disneyland Resort each year. What began as a one-day gathering has become a full weekend event with parties, gatherings, scavenger hunts, private meals, and hotel discounts.

Gay Days Anaheim Schedule

You can read all the specifics of this year’s schedule on the Gay Days Anaheim website but essentially each year’s event follows a pretty similar pattern:

  • Friday
    • The event usually kicks off with special guest speakers and parties hosted in the Grand Californian conference center
  • Saturday
    • Disneyland Park
    • Events take place throughout the day at Disneyland including lunch/dinner meet ups along with the scavenger hunt
    • Group photo in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle
  • Sunday
    • California Adventure
    • Events take place inside the park and at nearby hotels which in the past have included hosted pool parties
    • Group photo on Pixar Pier

If you are attending Gay Days Anaheim you can take advantage of spectacular Disneyland On Property Hotel discounts for attendees which often beat most standard discounts throughout the year. The average hotel discount rate for those attending Gay Days Anaheim is $389 for the Grand Californian and $309 for the Disneyland Hotel before taxes/fees. These are pretty good rates!

Gay Days Anaheim isn’t officially hosted by Disneyland but the coordinators of this event work with Disney to use the convention center, offer group hotel discounts, etc. Disney is prepared for the influx of guests this weekend and Gay Days attendees have made it clear they feel this is a safe event for the LGBTQIA+ community.

If you are not attending Gay Days Anaheim and want to avoid the Disneyland Pride Month crowds, consider booking Disneyland park pass reservations at the opposite park days planned in the schedule above.

Disney celebrates Pride Month at Disneyland each year and we will likely continue to see offerings expand in the future.
