UPDATE! Disneyland's website incorrectly showed that the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay would be returning for a much shorter run than usual later this year, which is a change that has long been requested by visitors as we detail below. This is actually not the case and that the Haunted Mansion Holiday will be returning on time. Read below for what you need to know, the initial details, and our thoughts on shortening the availability of the holiday version of the ride.
Disneyland's Haunted Mansion reopened last summer after a multi-month closure to introduce a reimagined queue experience and a new retail shop. The ride closed in January last year for construction and reopened as the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay, so the traditional version of the attraction has not been available to visitors for over a year.
The shortening of Haunted Mansion Holiday's run is a change that many have been asking to see for a while…you can see our original commentary below.

Haunted Mansion Holiday just closed today for refurbishment to take down its holiday overlay following the end of the Christmas celebration at Disneyland. The overlay usually has quite a long run that spans several months.
What we originally saw earlier this morning was that according to Scott Gustin on X, the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay will be returning from November 14, 2025, through January 7, 2026, aligning with what Disney shared in its 2025 special events calendar to be the Christmas celebration dates this year. However, this is not the case and the ride will be returning as usual for the start of the Halloween celebration on August 22, 2025.
Even though it turns out Haunted Mansion Holiday's run will not be shortened, many Disney fans have been hoping for a change like this.
This overlay usually runs during both the Halloween and Christmas celebrations at Disneyland, even as the Disneyland Halloween season has now been extended to start in late August for the past couple of years. While it is undoubtedly an extremely popular offering, many Disney fans have expressed that this multi-month overlay runs for too long and have been requesting a change for a while now.

We expect that many would be happy about a change to shorten the run of the overlay, especially for Magic Key holders who visit the parks frequently, as there would be more time to experience the traditional Haunted Mansion. We do see that a change like this would be disappointing for visitors who are planning to visit for Halloween and are expecting the holiday overlay.
We're excited to see the traditional Haunted Mansion finally returning in a few weeks after it has not been offered for quite a while. You can see the date its returning along with other closures for this week in our Disneyland refurbishments guide.

I wish they would just create a special immersive ride for Nightmare Before Christmas and let the fans have their Haunted Mansion back. It’s annoying that you can’t enjoy it on Halloween as it usually is. It’s bad enough Christmas is creeping all the way into August everywhere you look. Nothing against Christmas, but Halloween is being overwhelmed by its sprawl in general.
