UPDATE! Disneyland Haunted Mansion CLOSING Date For Refurbishment Announced

Disneyland rides will close for routine refurbishment throughout the year, and some have seasonal closures that happen around the same time each year to set up holiday overlays. The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland was closed for several months last year as its queue was completely reimagined and a brand-new gift shop was added outside the attraction's exit.

Now, Disneyland has revealed when the Haunted Mansion will be closing for refurbishment ahead of the start of the Halloween celebration at Disneyland. This is when work will take place to transform the ride from its traditional version into the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay, which will remain through the duration of the Christmas celebration at Disneyland. Update! The closing date was moved up. See that date below.

Closing Date Disneyland Haunted Mansion

Haunted Mansion Holiday Stretching Room

At Disneyland Park, the Haunted Mansion will be temporarily closing starting August 9, 2025. This was originally August 11. The attraction will be closed until the start of the Halloween celebration on August 22 while they put the holiday overlay up. This Nightmare Before Christmas-themed overlay is one of the highlights of Halloween at Disneyland and is always extra popular! We love seeing the gingerbread house they create for the ballroom scene each year.

  1. I really do wish they would just build a Nightmare Before Christmas ride and stop taking away our Haunted Mansion ride. Think of all the people coming there in the late summer who want to ride this and won’t be able to. They couldn’t wait until at least September, when they really should do it after Halloween?

    • I am with you, Maria! There was a website update earlier this year on the Disneyland website that mistakenly said that Disneyland was not going to run the Haunted Mansion Holiday version this year until later in the year. That turned out to be true, but it was a very positive response to that rumor.

      • I’m personally disappointed because I was planning to come out to Disneyland this August and go with my sister, but by the time my schedule opens up, it will be closed. I guess I’ll have to try for next spring?
A special Nightmare Before Christmas ride is a no-brainer. It would be popular year-round. I’m really kind of shocked they haven’t designed one after all these years.

  2. I am VERY disappointed in the updated overlay closure. We scheduled our visiting day for August 9th after seeing the first message of the Haunted Mansion Aug 11th. We try to visit the park every year, and last year with the construction panels up we didnt get on the ride either. And with this new price tier at $196 per ticket it may be our last visit anyway. Very sad.
