Radiator Springs Racers Closing For Month-Long Closure Later This Year

Throughout the year, Disneyland will temporarily close attractions for maintenance to keep them running at their best. It’s always wise to keep an eye on the list of Disneyland refurbishments coming up so that you’re aware of any closures that will be taking place during your trip!

Disneyland has just shared with us that Radiator Springs Racers, one of the most highly-demanded rides at the resort, will be closing later this year. This is one of the best rides at Disneyland that is a must-do for many visitors, so you’ll want to be aware of this closure if you’re planning a trip during this time. Favorite Ride Temporarily Closing Later This Year

While this closure is not yet on the Disneyland calendar, Disney shared with us that Radiator Springs Racers will be temporarily closing in a couple of months for standard refurbishment. The refurbishment will start on August 18, and the ride will be closed for a little over a month.

There will be routine work on the ride during this time, like coating the tracks for racing. According to a permit recently filed by Disneyland for Radiator Springs Racers, there will be work done to upgrade all of the show lighting to LED, and there will also be audio, video, and network updates throughout the attraction. Radiator Springs Racers was last closed for a brief refurbishment from February 26-March 1 last year, and it underwent a slightly longer refurbishment in 2023 from August 18 to August 27.

This closure is starting right before the Halloween celebration kicks off at Disneyland on August 22. Because this ride is the most highly-demanded experience at the park, you can expect that during the closure, this demand will be shifted to Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! and the Incredicoaster, the other main thrill rides at the park. This will especially be true in the mornings at Disney California Adventure, as Radiator Springs Racers is often the ride the crowds will rush to when the park opens.
