Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is arguably Walt Disney World‘s most elaborate street procession. Over 100 performers dance through Magic Kingdom, including the parade’s famous toy soldiers. It’s this extravagance that has made the parade a signature part of ABC’s Christmas Day programming for decades. At the park, the parade is typically only performed during a nighttime event that requires a separate ticket, rather than during the daytime for all Magic Kingdom guests. That won’t be the case on select days coming up soon when ABC will film its annual holiday special.
Disney World’s Christmas parade will be performed and filmed during the daytime for all guests on select dates, breaking from its paywalled party. We have details on dates and what else is affected by this change. Christmas Parade Special Filming at Disney World

Disneyland typically sticks to music performances, while Disney World carries parade-hosting duties while also sprinkling in vocalist performances.
Despite seeming live, this special is filmed weeks in advance. This includes a complete filming of Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade at Magic Kingdom, during regular park hours. This is a big deal considering that this parade is usually exclusive to guests attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, an after-hours event that requires a ticket sold separately from Magic Kingdom daytime admission.
ABC will film Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade during the daytime for all Magic Kingdom guests on November 10 and 11, 2026. Showtime is 2:00 PM on both days.
The Christmas Parade filming, and all the prep leading up to it from a production standpoint, will impact other Magic Kingdom live entertainment.
- Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade: Canceled for November 10 and November 11
- Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade: Canceled for November 10, still on for November 11
- Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire: Only 2 performances on November 10, 4 performances on November 11 (usually 5)
Many guests purchase tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party just to see the parade. It’s that good. This makes its daytime performances a huge value to Magic Kingdom guests on those days. They can see an incredible production that would ordinarily require them to spend more money to view.

Note that the parade may or may not start and stop for long periods of time rather than continuously moving. Disney has taken both approaches over the years.
Additionally, while in recent years Disney has simply filmed the parade verbatim as it appears during the Christmas party, there’s always a chance some special characters could be added just for the broadcast filming and/or that celebrities could be part of the procession. Again, Disney has used both methods across the decades. Last year’s parade was hosted by Ginnifer Goodwin and Alfonso Ribeiro.
Aside from the November filmings, Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade also typically performs daily at Magic Kingdom during the week of Christmas and New Year’s, but that has not been confirmed for this year yet. In any case, that week is much more crowded than any day in November, and some annual passholders are blocked out.
ABC may or may not also film concert-style celebrity musician performances throughout Walt Disney World the same week as the Christmas Parade taping. These locations and schedules tend to vary more year over year than the parade itself. The network also takes this same production time to film overnight performances for a similar TV special that usually airs over Thanksgiving weekend.
Disneyland will film its portions of the holiday specials from October 23 through October 26.
This year’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates are on select nights from November 8 through December 22, 2026. See all party dates and the price for each night.
Disney World’s other holiday season festivities include Disney Jollywood Nights, a separately ticketed event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, included with park admission and featuring the Candlelight Processional.
