Walt Disney World's Lightning Lane Multi Pass is replacing Genie+ as the newest skip the line service for popular park attractions. Guests can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass for an extra cost in order to access the shorter lines for popular rides called Lightning Lanes.
We have tracked the pricing of Genie+ carefully at Walt Disney World which gives our readers a good idea of how to prepare for the highest costs. Genie+ used variable pricing which means that the pricing for the service varies on a day by day basis in response to demand.
So how much do Disney Multi Pass Lightning Lanes cost? Once the service goes into effect, we might see some pricing shifts from the prior Genie+ service. Keep reading for my full breakdown on the anticipated cost for this service for both Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass.

What is Walt Disney World Lightning Lane Multi Pass?
The main difference between Genie+ and Lightning Lane Multi Pass is that guests can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass prior to their visit and book up to 3 Lightning Lane selections in advance for each day.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass will go into effect at Walt Disney World and Disneyland on July 24. Aside from the name change, the service at Disneyland will work exactly the same. When these changes go into effect, the name of Genie+ will be changing to Lightning Lane Multi Pass and the Individual Lightning Lane service will be renamed Lightning Lane Single Pass.
Once you enter the theme parks and redeem at least one of your advance Lightning Lane selections then you will be able to reserve more. Each time you redeem your Lightning Lane selection you can then book your next one. This means you will likely always have at least one or more Lightning Lane selections to utilize throughout your park day.
Disney is attempting to simplify this service while also offering advance selection options for Lightning Lanes in the parks. While changes to these complicated skip the line services can be confusing, I think this is a positive change that many guests will benefit from.

What Makes Lightning Lane Single Pass Different Than Multi Pass?
Guests can purchase Lightning Lane Single Pass to attractions that aren’t listed under the Multi Pass list. The rides on this list, only five total at Walt Disney World, are often the most popular and newest rides in the park.
Guests can also purchase these selections in advance just like Multi Pass and can book up to two per day.
You can purchase both Lightning Lane Multi Pass AND Lightning Lane Single Pass at the same time. This means you can have up to five advance ride reservations per day if you are purchasing both Multi Pass and Single Pass.
How Much Does Genie+ Cost at Disney World?
The current Genie+ service at Walt Disney World starts at $15 per day per person after tax at Walt Disney World and can go as high as $39 per person, per day.
Genie+ is priced out by each specific theme park or you can purchase it for all four if you plan on park hopping at Walt Disney World.
We've seen Genie+ hit its peak price of $39 per person during popular times of the year like Spring Break, holiday weekends, and during the Christmas season. It's not too common for Genie+ to hit that highest price point and more commonly averages around $25-30 per person.
As for the lowest price, it is extremely rare to see Genie+ hit $15 and when it does it's most often for Animal Kingdom only and not the other theme parks. You will not see Magic Kingdom's Genie+ option priced at $15 per person anytime soon. So while it's tempting to estimate your costs on the lowest end of the cost range, it's far more realistic to average high so you are prepared. And remember, this cost is per person, per park day.
How Much Will Multi Pass Lightning Lane Cost?
The only concrete data we have so far is on how much Lightning Lane Multi Pass will cost is the graphic pictured above that was shared by Disney.
In the image above it breaks down the pricing for Magic Kingdom at $27 per person for Lightning Lane Multi Pass. We can also see the date for this example pricing as August 1st. If we look at the Thrill Data for the Genie+ pricing for this exact date last year it was $25 per person so this is pretty comparable.
Now keep in mind the disclaimer on this image that this is purely just example pricing for illustration purposes only. But I think we can use this as a clue that the Lightning Lane Multi Pass pricing may not be as different as Genie+ pricing was. The image is showcasing a pretty consistent average pricing that Genie+ would have been at.
As for Lightning Lane Single Pass, the example ride given in the graphic is TRON Lightcycle/Run for $20 per person. This is the standard price that TRON has been set at since it opened so I imagine we will see that pricing remain consistent when the service transitions to Lightning Lane Single Pass.
I do not expect Walt Disney World to raise prices drastically when the service switches over to Lightning Lane Multi Pass. I would not be surprised to see a small price bump, which is often easy to sneak in when a service changes like this, but I do not anticipate anything too significant.
Disney has stated that these changes are in response to guest feedback, primarily feedback of guess lamenting the loss of the prior FastPass+ system that also used advance line reservation booking. This service was also completely free and the transition of the skip the line service to a paid one was not a popular move. Since this change is being made to create a more effective service and aim to please guests, adding on a big price hike would not be wise.
How Much Does Lightning Lane Single Pass Cost?
The different of Lightning Lane Single Pass compared to Lightning Lane Multi Pass is that each Lightning Lane entrance has a fee per attraction rather than being a set service you purchase with included attractions.
As of now, here are the average prices for these Lightning Lane Single Pass attractions based on their data as part of the Genie+ service. It is possible we might see price change here as well but I would expect these to remain consistent.
The pricing variables mainly consist of demand and the crowd levels in the park. The more demand Lightning Lane is, the higher the cost will be.
Magic Kingdom Lightning Lane Single Pass Attractions
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: $10-$12
- Tron Lightcycle/Run: $20
EPCOT Lightning Lane Single Pass Attractions
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind: $14-$17
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Lightning Lane Single Pass Attractions
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance: $14-$20
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lightning Lane Single Pass Attractions
- Avatar Flight of Passage: $11-$14
These Lightning Lane Single Pass rides are all the most popular in each park and purchasing access to the Lightning Lane is a great way to save time.
When Can You Book Lightning Lanes?
When you can book a Lightning Lane reservation will depend on if you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel or not! Guests staying on-site get an advantage of booking in advance compared to those staying off-site.
Walt Disney World hotel guests can book their Lightning Lane passes up to seven days in advance for their entire stay of up to 14 days. This benefit is offered to guests at all Disney Resort hotels, Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, Walt Disney World Swan Hotel, Walt Disney World Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green Resort.
All other guests can book their Lightning Lane passes up to three days in advance. This is for guests with date-based theme park tickets, other ticket types, and annual passholders.
All guests can purchase Lightning Lane passes for days they have valid theme park admission starting at 7:00 AM Eastern Time on their first day of eligibility.
Unfortunately, international guests cannot book advance Lightning Lane passes.
How to Use Purchase Lightning Lane Passes at Disney World
Before you can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass/Single Pass you need to set up your Disney account and link everyone in your group.
- Download the My Disney Experience app which is the official Walt Disney World app.
- Connect everyone in your travel group on your Family & Friends list in the My Disney Experience app—so you’ll be able to purchase Lightning Lane passes and make plans for everyone that is eligible. This part is especially important, you don't want to be scrambling at the last minute realizing someone isn't connected to the group.
- Ask everyone what their top ride picks are and then you can save them in the My Disney Experience app under the “My Day” feature.
Everyone must have valid theme park admission to purchase Lightning Lanes. Once you have secured Walt Disney World tickets for everyone in your group and linked everything to your My Disney Experience app, then you can purchase your Lightning Lane passes when you are eligible to do so.
How to Use Lightning Lane Passes
Walt Disney World hotel guests can purchase their passes seven days prior to their visit and off-site guests can purchase three days prior. Once you're eligibility window opens, this is how you purchase the Lightning Lane passes.
- Open the My Disney Experience app, then tap the Lightning Lane Passes section on the home screen.
- Select a date and theme park.
- Select a Lightning Lane Single Pass, a Lightning Lane Multi Pass or both.
- If you select a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can choose up to 3 Lightning Lane Multi Pass experiences and arrival windows in advance.
- If you select a Lightning Lane Single Pass, you can choose an arrival window in advance.
- Follow all prompts to complete your purchase—and receive a confirmation.
- From the confirmation screen, you can tap “Plan Another Day” to purchase another pass—or tap “View My Day” for details about your Lightning Lane selections.
The process is seamless when using the app. Just make sure you know what you want to do in advance because the most popular rides may have more limited availability and run out quick. There won't be an unlimited number of selections for everyone and popular rides will run out.
How Much Does Lightning Lane Multi Pass Cost at Disneyland?
Disneyland is also transitioning to Lightning Lane Multi Pass but the service is only receiving a name change, everything else will remain. Currently, Disney Genie Plus starts at $30 per ticket per day at Disneyland. Similar to Walt Disney World, other factors can create variable pricing like crowd levels.
Currently, if purchasing a ticket and vacation package in advance, the cost for Genie+ is fixed at $30. However, this cost can vary if you’re purchasing Genie+ on the day of your theme park trip. This date-based pricing system means that the cost for Genie+ can be $30 on certain days or more on different days. I anticipate this will stay the same once the service is renamed Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
If you are visiting during a peak time of the year, purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass is the best way to go at Disneyland so you can lock the lowest price in it. Peak times of the year like Halloween and Christmas will price the service at the higher end of the spectrum.

Is Lightning Lane Multi Pass Worth It?
Even though the service has not officially launched yet, it will work similar enough to Genie+ that I have a good sense of the worth!
Lightning Lane Multi Pass will absolutely be worth it because of the time it will save you in the parks each day. Each ride has two different lines: the Lightning Lane and standby line. The Lightning Lane gets priority access over the standby line and on average most guests don't wait longer than 15 minutes in the Lightning Lane and in some cases you walk right on! The standby line on the other hand can easily reach wait times of over an hour for popular rides! That is a lot of your day wasted in line when you could be enjoying other park offerings.
The addition of advance reservations for Lightning Lanes has also increased the worth of this service because now guests will go into their trip knowing they have three confirmed Lightning Lane reservations for each day of their park visits. That in itself increases the value of the service plus guests can book additional Lightning Lane reservations when they arrive. Altogether, this is a great benefit and a positive way to plan your vacation.
While the cost can add up, especially if you are traveling during a peak time of the year, I highly recommend you budget the expense into your vacation so you can truly have the best experience.

Hello. My husband and I are travelling from Sydney to Disneyland Anaheim next month and I have heard that international travellers will not be able to book lightning lane multi pass in advance. Is this true? We are arriving the day before our park reservations, so can we make bookings that day? Gail Greville
Hi Gail, for Disneyland in Anaheim, California there are no early multi pass bookings. See the Genie Plus guide here for how to use that service.
