Disney Makes Several Major EPCOT Announcements For New Experiences Coming

Disney has made some major announcements regarding new experiences coming to EPCOT at Walt Disney World!

At Destination D23 in Orlando, Florida, we got to hear some exciting news and updates about the future of Disney Parks. We will be sharing the news on all new projects that have been announced at the event, including updates on EPCOT's construction, details of its new Disney100 nighttime spectacular, the opening dates of new attractions and character meet-and-greets, and more!

EPCOT Disney100 New Nighttime Spectacular Name and Opening Date Revealed

After the Harmonious Fireworks show at EPCOT ended its run in April, EPCOT Forever has temporarily taken its place, and there will soon be a brand new nighttime spectacular.

Disney has announced the name of its new Disney100 nighttime spectacular coming to EPCOT: “Luminous The Symphony of Us.” This show will feature fireworks, fountains, lasers, lighting effects, and music, and it will open on December 5, 2023.

World Celebration Opening Announced

EPCOT has been undergoing a multi-year transformation reimagining Future World into three neighborhoods: World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature. Along with this redesign comes the new outdoor space called CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza for musical performances and festivals in World Celebration.

Disney has announced that the World Celebration neighborhood at EPCOT will open this December! Disney describes World Celebration as the neighborhood that will “unite the front of the park,” and the completion of this neighborhood's development will mark a major step in EPCOT's transformation.

Figment Meet-and-Greet Coming to Disney World–Date Announced!

Disney previously announced that guests will be able to greet Figment, the purple dragon that is the unofficial mascot of EPCOT, this summer in the Imagination! Pavilion at World Celebration. Now, Disney has shared when guests will be able to enjoy this meet-and-greet experience, starting September 10, 2023.

Guests have been waiting for this announcement, as Disney shared there would be a meet-and-greet sometime this year but hadn’t released an exact date yet. Be sure to experience the Journey Into Imagination With Figment ride and say hello to this beloved character who will be “sparking your creativity and helping your imagination soar”!

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana Opening Date Announced

Disney has finally announced the opening date of the new walkthrough attraction Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana in World Nature at EPCOT. We got the opportunity to preview this new interactive attraction, and you can see our thoughts in our guide to Moana’s Journey of Water.

Disney announced that this new attraction will open on October 16, 2023! Moana will also be appearing for a character meet-and-greet at World Nature in her dedicated space near Journey of Water.

Test Track Reimagining

Disney also announced that the popular Test Track will be reimagined, with Imagineers and teams from Chevrolet “reaching back into history for inspiration” to the original World of Motion ride and making developments to the newest version of the ride.
