Country Bear Jamboree Opening Date Announced- SOONER Than Expected

The Country Bear Musical Jamboree opening at Magic Kingdom is right around the corner, and Disney has been hard at work in creating this reimagining of the beloved show.

For Country Bear Musical Jamboree, Disney has designed the experience so that it has an authentic country feel to it and made an effort to respect the tradition of the songs and the connections that guests have to the show.

We are reporting today from a media presentation at Disney World and have some details on the show as well as an opening date announced! Disney had shared that the show would be debuting in the summer of 2024 but we didn't have an exact date until now. Keep reading for more details!

Country Bear Musical Jamboree Reimagining Details and Opening Date

In talking about their approach to reimagining the attraction, Imagineers discussed their own personal connection to the show. They mentioned that they “want to keep the ethos of the bears” but rethink the songs to be more diverse and multigenerational so that they will appeal to a wider audience.

The new costumes being made for the reimagining will play a part in telling the story. These are based on authentic country looks and feature new details like embroidering on the vests to be more detailed. The costumes still look the same for guests who look at the attraction with nostalgia but are approached with more detail and care.

Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily designed the piece below for inspiration for the attraction. They are Disney designers who have done a great deal of notable work including the Soundsational Parade and tons of merch for the 50th Anniversary at Disneyland. We would love to see more of their whimsical designs used in the parks and merchandise.

Disney shared a preview of the addition of a Zootopia song to the attraction that has a country twang. The music sounds energetic and and engaging, bringing a much different atmosphere to the attraction. The prior music featured in the attraction was more melodic at times (like “Blood On the Saddle”) and this Zootopia addition drastically changes that. We need to see it before can fully judge, but it's a very different approach.

Disney has now shared the opening date of the Country Bear Musical Jamboree, which will be this summer on July 17! They turned this around quite quickly so it's still a part of the summer lineup along with the opening of Tiana's Bayou Adventure and some of the other special summer offerings at Disney World like the new Encanto show at the CommuniCore Plaza stage, The Lion King anniversary special offerings at Animal Kingdom, and new Inside Out character meet-and-greet at Hollywood Studios.

We're looking forward to seeing the reimagined show and what it has to offer!
