We had the opportunity to see the new exhibit from the George W. Bush Institute honoring U.S. service members and veterans that recently opened at EPCOT.
The exhibit, called “Portraits of Courage: A Commander’s Tribute to America’s Warriors,” features over 60 portraits that were painted by President Bush. These oil paintings depict the brave service members and veterans who have served our nation since 9/11.

New Exhibit Honoring Veterans at EPCOT
The new exhibit at EPCOT was introduced by Jason J. Galui, the Director for Veterans and Military Families at the George W. Bush Institute. He shared that in the exhibit, the “individual portraits that you see around you represent a heartfelt tribute from President Bush to the millions of men and women who have served in our military, many of whom volunteered to serve after September 11th, 2001 during his administration.”
President Bush has an appreciation for the arts, and he personally knew all of the service members who he painted. Galui mentioned in his introduction, “The portraits you see are personal to him. President Bush knows each and every one of these veterans that you see on these walls. I encourage you to learn their stories and the stories of veterans that you may know in your communities.”
With each painting, you can learn the story of the veteran depicted, personally written by President Bush. These include stories of their service on the battlefield, recovery from injury, and the contributions they have made in their post-military careers.
The exhibit provides a meaningful opportunity for visitors to honor those who have served our country and recognize each individual service member's contributions. The building provides a nice escape from the heat, and it's good to have something new on display in the American Adventure Pavilion.
