Universal Studios Hollywood is located in Los Angeles, California, with several themed lands including Universal CityWalk, Minion Land, Jurassic World, Production Plaza, Studio Tour Plaza, WaterWorld, the new Super Nintendo World, and more. Universal Orlando (also commonly referred to as Universal Studios Orlando) is in Orlando, Florida, and has three different theme parks: Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay. Universal Studios Islands of Adventure is themed around magical adventures and superheroes, and Universal Studios Florida is themed around movies and film. These two parks feature iconic attractions like the Jurassic World: Velocicoaster, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, and more. Should You Buy Costco Universal Studios Packages in 2025?

For Universal Studios Hollywood, season passes might not be consistently available at Costco, but if they are, this can be a great deal. The Costco packages do offer a nice selection of hotels to choose from with varying perks for non-official Universal Orlando hotels such as complimentary self parking, kids eat free at select meals, etc. However, there is less flexibility when booking through Costco Travel, and you are not able to customize your trip for exactly the number of nights you want to stay and where you want to stay if it is outside the parameters of what is offered. For example, if you want to stay 3 nights, this is not possible through Costco Travel, which requires a minimum stay of 4 nights.

Also, during the planning of your trip, you won't get top-quality support if you decide to book through Costco Travel. While their representatives will offer help, they might not be experts about the parks and can be limited in how much detail they can answer questions and offer assistance. Because Costco's Universal Studios Hollywood offerings are not always consistent or they might not be exactly what you're looking for, we will also discuss a great alternative where you can buy individual tickets outside the context of a season pass. If you intend to buy Costco Universal Studios Hollywood season passes in person, make sure to call your local store ahead of time and inquire about availability before making the journey to make sure they have them, or you can see if they are being offered online. 

As of September 2023, Costco is offering a Universal Studios Hollywood Season Pass. These are available for purchase through Costco Wholesale online and have also been spotted at select warehouses.

The season pass offer includes:

• First visit must occur on or before June 13th, 2025 and is only valid on registered date

If the season pass offer is available through the Costco website, and if you decide to purchase it online, you will be sent an email with your registration barcode, and then you will register for your first visit date to activate the Season Pass at https://www.universalstudioshollywood.com/registration. 

If you purchase in-store at Costco, you will go to the gift card section and find a cardboard cutout representing a ticket. When you go to the register to check out, the cardboard cutouts will be exchanged for real passes.

According to the Universal Studios Hollywood website, this is available to the following: “Active Duty, Retiree, 100% disabled Veteran, Medal of Honor Recipient, Active Guard/Reserve, spouse/dependent ID card holder of those categories (or DOD NAF/GS employee, ‘if applicable').” These are not available at the Universal Studios Hollywood box office, and it's recommended to call your closest military ticket office ahead of time.
• College Discounts: Universal Studios Hollywood offers discounts for select colleges, giving them access to lower prices for tickets and annual passes. To access these, you need to log in with your school email, and certain schools only allow these to be purchased on campus. • AARP Universal Studios Discount Tickets: AARP members can access discounts on Universal Studios General Admission through the AARP Travel Center curated by Expedia.
• Using Rewards Points For Universal Studios Tickets: Some rewards programs enable you to redeem points you've collected for General Admission tickets, including American Express, Canadian Air, and more.

Does Costco Sell Universal Orlando Tickets?

Costco does not sell individual Universal Studios Orlando tickets, but it does sell vacation packages, which include tickets. To access the tickets, you need to be willing to buy both tickets and hotel accommodations through Costco Travel.

Costco packages either include a stay at an official Universal Orlando Resort hotel, including dated promo tickets (for a minimum stay of four days), or a stay at a hotel in the surrounding area (with various benefits per hotel). Official Universal Orlando packages are offered for Orlando: Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort, Orlando: Universal's Aventura Hotel, Orlando: Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, and Loews Sapphire Falls Resort (with options with and without the Volcano Bay Water Theme Park included).

Keep in mind that some of the perks advertised by Costco like resort-wide charging privileges with room key, transportation to theme parks and CityWalk, and early park admission are already included when you stay at an official Universal Orlando Resort hotel and are not an additional perk provided by Costco. The perks offered for the hotels in the surrounding area tend to differ per hotel, with some perks more significant than others.

Is It Worth It To Buy Universal Orlando Tickets Through Costco?

If you're already planning on booking one of the hotels in the packages offered through Costco Travel's websites, then this would be a good deal by bundling hotel and park tickets rather than buying them individually, and you would also get Costco member benefits (the Digital Costco Shop card and/or 2% annual reward for Executive Members on Costco Travel purchases). If you were planning on staying at a different hotel, or if you don't need accommodations at all, Costco might not be your best option.

Some guests are not looking to buy Universal Orlando hotel+ticket packages and instead are wanting just discount tickets, and this is not an available option through Costco. The 2-Day Park-to-Park + 3 Days Free Promo Ticket allows one guest admission to Universal Studios Florida and Universal's Islands of Adventure. The ticket is valid for 5 days within a period of 8 consecutive days from and includes the selected date.

You also have the option to add on Volcano Bay Water Park, which will give you access to all three parks. Park-to-park tickets entitles one guest admission to both Universal Studios Florida and Universal's Islands of Adventure on the same day. In the case of Volcano Bay being added, park-to-park entitles one guest admission to Universal Studios Florida, Universal's Islands of Adventure, and Universal's Volcano Bay on the same day.

Costco has recently been moving away from selling theme park tickets and is only selling them in the context of vacation packages, which is also the case for Disneyland and Disney World.
