Disney World Extends Hotel Refurbishment

Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside

The room refurbishment at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort- Riverside is now being extended into summer 2027. We previously covered this refurbishment in our guide to recent hotel closures at Disney World.

This update tells us this room refurbishment is being expanded into more areas of the resort, especially since the notice from Disney World now reads, “From early May 2025 through August 2027, Guest rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside will undergo refurbishment throughout different parts of the Resort hotel. During this time, Guests may see or hear construction work in the area.”

Previously, the notice said, “From early May 2025 through the end of February 2026, Guest rooms in the Magnolia Bend at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside will undergo refurbishment. During this time, Guests may see or hear construction work in the area.”

We do not know yet what the new refurbished rooms will look like, but since this refurbishment is being extended over a full year, we could see big changes.

Boat Transportation Impacted by Resort Construction

Disney's Wilderness Lodge water taxi view

The boat dock at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will undergo routine maintenance from Jan. 12, 2026, through early April 2026. The dock will be closed and boat transportation will be temporarily suspended from Jan. 12–30.

Fortunately, this transportation impact is only for a short time, but guests should be aware if they are planning to stay at this resort hotel in January 2026. Guests traveling that month should also be aware of the Disney Skyliner closure happening in a similar timeframe.

Exterior refurbishments at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will continue through the end of 2026. These updates do not impact resort amenities, but guests may experience an impact on views at certain locations and may hear construction noise during daytime hours.
