Disney Verifying Hotel Reservations for Pool Access
Disney World recently began advertising a new policy that will begin on June 28, which will limit which guests can access the complimentary resort bus and boat transportation for hotel guests. This rule change, once it begins, will include a new verification step at Disney Springs to limit access to bus and boat transportation to those who only have an active resort hotel or dining reservation.

This new policy was confirmed on the Disney World My Experience App and has been advertised with new signage around Disney Springs. According to the cast member we previously spoke to, this will become a part of daily operations at Disney Springs with no end date.
Now it appears that this transportation change is part of a broader trend to ensure these Disney Resort hotel guest benefits are limited to only those with active hotel reservations. Signs have been spotted across the resort, including at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort pool, reminding guests that pool access is limited to guests staying at that specific resort. Cast members have also been spotted stationed at these entrances to check guests for an active reservation. You can see an example of this in the post shared below on X.

The Disney Springs transportation change has been met with mixed reviews and has generated a larger discussion of who should be allowed access to the Disney Resort hotels. Some argue the changes help reduce overcrowding and improve the experiences for hotel guests. Others feel differently, seeing these changes as a way Disney is limiting flexibility for day visitors and locals.

While previously any guests could use Disney Springs resort transportation, the pools have always remained exclusively for resort hotel guests. This appears to be part of a larger effort to enforce an already existing rule, which could suggest that Disney has seen increased use of resort pools by guests who do not have a hotel reservation.
