My Walt Disney World Honeymoon Experience
Spending our honeymoon at Walt Disney World was the best decision my wife and I made.
After over a year of planning and then getting to tie the knot, there was nothing more we wanted than to relax at the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” We made sure to plan our honeymoon to include theme park days, special experiences, and relaxation days. In fact, many of the photos and tips we're sharing with you here come from first-hand experience during our honeymoon!
From the hotels we stayed at, theme parks experiences we had, and special tours we experienced, we can vouch for the tips you're about to read.
Even the Cast Members took extra measures to make sure our experience was as magical as it got.
At our Disney World Resort hotel, Cast Members sprinkled magic on us and gave us rooms with special views (more on that below). Proudly wearing our “Happily Ever After” celebration pins, more Cast Members sprinkled more Disney magic throughout our stay.
Here are the tips that made our honeymoon extra special – and will make yours special too.
Stay in an Extra-Magical Disney World Hotel
There's no better way to start off your honeymoon than by choosing the right Walt Disney World Resort hotel for you and your spouse.
Some of the more intimate hotels at Disney World include Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Disney's BoardWalk Inn. These Deluxe resorts feature more luxurious amenities, activities, and incredible dining options compared to Moderate or Value resorts.
However, if you're on a budget, Disney still has a few romantic options for you! For example, Gran Destino Tower at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort has the feel of a Deluxe-level resort with a Moderate-level price. And over at Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, you have access to the Royal Rooms, the only princess-themed guest rooms at Disney World.
Pro Tip: When booking your Disney World Resort hotel reservation, make sure to let Disney know that you're on your honeymoon. While its not guaranteed, Disney is known for sprinkling a little extra magic for couples celebrating their wedding!
Let's go over our favorite Disney World Resorts to stay at for your honeymoon.
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa
With its iconic Victorian elegance, white exterior, and red roof, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is consistently ranked one of the best and most romantic hotels in Orlando.
This resort features a world-class spa, Senses – A Disney Spa and Salon, for you and your spouse to truly relax and melt away your stress. This resort also features a number of my personal favorite restaurants, including Narcoossee's, Cítricos, and Victoria and Alberts, which now boasts a Michelin Star rating! And with Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Contemporary Resort just a monorail ride away, you have access to even more magical experiences!
With room rates starting at around $580 per night, make no mistake that Disney's Grand Floridian Resort is a features Deluxe accommodations with a Deluxe price.
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge makes you feel like you're on your own African adventure.
With spectacular views of savannas full of over 30 different species of animals, several restaurants and bars steeped in African culture, one of the largest collections of African artwork and artifacts in the United States, and an 11,000-square-foot pool with a water slide, you and your spouse might not ever have to leave the resort.
For a Deluxe resort, rooms are reasonably priced and start at around $380 per night.
Disney's BoardWalk Inn and Villas
Disney's BoardWalk is often-times called a “mini-Disney Springs,” and for good reason.
Situated along the shores of Crescent Lake, Disney's BoardWalk Inn is designed after turn-of-the-century Coney Island and Atlantic City. With its carnival-themed pool with a 200-foot-long water slide, a variety of dining options including the popular Flying Fish restaurant, and nightly carnival-style shows, Disney's BoardWalk Inn and Villas is a great place to spend your honeymoon. And with 4 other Disney World resort hotels within walking distance, you have access to even more magical experiences!
This Deluxe resort starts at around $500 per night.
Disney's Riviera Resort
Disney's Riviera Resort is my personal favorite resort on Walt Disney World property and is a perfect place to stay on your honeymoon.
Disney's Riviera Resort is a homage to Walt and Lillian Disney's travels throughout Europe and the Mediterranean coastline – especially France and Italy. With inspiration from European art, architecture, and stories, you'll be treated with an interior that feels elegant but still homey. It's almost as if you're really staying along the French-Italian Riviera.
Starting at around $450 for a Tower Studio room, Disney's Riviera Resort truly sets itself apart from other Disney resorts hotels.
Gran Destino Tower at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort
Gran Destino Tower packs the amenities of a Deluxe Disney World Resort hotel into the price of a Moderate level hotel – perfect if you're a newlywed on a budget.
Located at Disney's Coronado Springs Hotel, Gran Destino Tower boasts an incredible Spanish-themed rooftop restaurant and bar and beautiful theming. It's also the only Moderate level resort that offers club-level rooms giving you access to Chronos Club, a great spot to relax and enjoy the complimentary snacks, meals, and drinks. And of course, you also get access to The Dig Site, an incredible pool area that has one of the largest outdoor hot tubs at Disney World and a 123-foot-long waterslide.
Starting at around $300 per night, you get so much value for your money.
Royal Rooms at Disney's Port Orleans Resort – Riverside
The princess-themed guest rooms at Disney's Port Orleans Resort – Riverside are great for newlyweds who are huge fans of the Disney princesses.
The Royal Rooms truly make you and your spouse feel like royalty, with their elegant and regal theming. From the Magic Carpet on the floor to the photos of Disney princess on the wall and down to the depth of the wood, textures, and finishing, these rooms were tastefully designed. And of course, you get access to the rest of the resort, including Scat Cat's Club and the popular Mickey Mouse beignets next door.
Prices for the Royal Rooms start at around $300 per night.
Remember though: Walt Disney World resort offers over 25 resorts and hotels, all with different theming and price ranges to fit your needs. While these are our top 6 picks, they are plenty more to explore.

Romantic Experiences at Walt Disney World Theme Parks
With 4 theme parks (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom) and 2 water parks (Disney's Blizzard Beach and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon), you've got more than enough variety of attractions to experience!
Take flight on a banshee on Avatar Flight of Passage and explore the mystical world of Pandora at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Explore the Hollywood Tower Hotel on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Go on a culinary adventure on Remy's Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT. Hold each other close while watching Happily Ever After – A Nighttime Spectacular at Magic Kingdom. There's so many magical experiences to have at the Disney World theme parks.
But did you know about these other romantic opportunities in the theme parks?
Show Off Your Newlywed Status with Celebration Pins
Disney loves celebrating true love.
So why not show off your celebration with complimentary celebration pins that say “Happily Ever After”? Then, you can show them off during your entire stay at Walt Disney World. You can find these pins at most front desks, customer service locations, and merchandise shops. When asking, you'll have the chance to personalize your pin with a permanent marker.
Be aware though – Cast Members are known to sprinkle a little extra magic to those wearing their “Happily Ever After” pins. You've been warned!
Take a Backstage Tour
If one or both of you are Disney theme park aficionados, a Disney World backstage tour is a must on your honeymoon.
With a variety of tours across Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney's Animal Kingdom, and many more at the rest of Walt Disney World Resort, you can find just about anything that pique's your interest. Take a walk into Magic Kingdom's underground “utilidors” on Disney's Keys to the Kingdom Tour. Learn all about how Disney handles the future of agriculture at EPCOT on Behind the Seeds Tour. You can even get closer to the animals at Disney's Animal Kingdom on Wild Africa Trek.
Although prices vary for each tour, they each offer extra-special magical moments for you and your spouse to experience.
Capture Your Moment with an Enchanting Photo Session
During your honeymoon, you'll likely want photos to look back on!
With Disney's Capture Your Moment photo package, you can do just that without having to worry about taking photos yourselves. This personalized 20-minute photo session is offered at any of the 4 Disney World theme parks and uses the background setup of your choice. And with the help of a knowledgable Cast Member behind the camera, you'll have magical memories to keep with you forever.
Make sure to make advanced reservations for this service that starts at $99.
Take a Cruise to Watch the Nighttime Spectaculars
Why watch fireworks in the midst of endless crowds when you can do it from the privacy of a chartered boat?
Disney World's specialty cruises allow you to set sail on the waters of World Showcase Lagoon to watch Luminous The Symphony of Us at EPCOT or on the waters of Seven Seas Lagoon to watch Happily Ever After near Magic Kingdom. The best part – you get synchronized audio onboard your boat to fully immerse you in the moment.
Prices for these incredible cruise experiences start at $449 plus tax, but make for unforgettable moments with your new spouse.
Share a Toast on an Exclusive Drinking Experience
While drinking around the world is a popular past time at EPCOT, La Cava Experience at La Cava de Tequila puts the toast to your celebration at a whole new level.
Designed as a showcase of some of the finest tequila in the world, a certified Tequila Ambassador guides you through a selection of rare and unique agave spirits – some of them are exclusive to La Cava Experience! The cost for this experience is $180 per person plus tax.
If you're looking for something more cost-effective, Sangria University at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort costs $69-$79 per person. This experience allows you and your spouse to learn about the history of sangria and the exact recipes used to make the 4 in-house varieties served at Three Bridges Bar and Grill. Of course, it's also followed up with tastings of these drinks!
These 2 experiences can take your honeymoon over the top!
Romantic Dining at Disney World
There are a number of restaurants that are perfect for you and your new spouse at Disney World.
Offering a variety of different food options and experiences, Disney World caters to just about any palette.
However, when it comes to the following restaurants, make sure to make an advanced dining reservation as early as 60 days before your planned restaurant visit.
Topolino's Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera
Topolino's Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera is near the top of my list when recommending a romantic dining restaurant at Disney World.
From its elegant-but-no-stuffy theming and its rooftop views of Disney World to its unbelievable menu, you simply cannot go wrong dining here. I was recently turned on to the Classic Sole Meuniére, which is a fan-favorite. However, the Rigatoni is still my all-time favorite dish here.
If you're looking for a great character dining meal, Topolino's Terrace is also our top pick. Not only do you get a chance to meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy in their cute outfits. You also get really tasty breakfast bread service and your choice from a variety of amazing entree options!
With an outdoor terrace to watch the EPCOT nighttime spectacular during dinner and a wonderful character dining breakfast experience, how could you go wrong?
Victoria and Albert's
If you want the best fine dining experience on your honeymoon, look no further than Victoria and Albert's.
Located at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Victoria and Albert's boasts a AAA five-diamond restaurant rating since 2000 – and a Michelin Star. You can choose between 3 tasting menus, which includes up to 11 courses brought to you by 2 dedicated servers. Of course, with all this quality comes a price. Come prepared with your Sunday best honeymoon outfit and a minimum of $200 per person.
This multi-hour experience is a meal you and your spouse are likely to cherish for a very long time.
Narcoossee's
Offering an incredible menu, Narcoossee's is arguably the best seafood restaurant on Disney World property.
With its understated but beautiful beach theme, Narcoossee's boasts elegance without making you feel out of place. Situated on the shore of Seven Seas Lagoon at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Narcoossee's serves up incredible dishes such as the lobster bisque, which will completely change your perspective on seafood soup.
The best part: if you time your dinner right, you'll get waterside views of the Magic Kingdom nighttime spectacular and the Electric Water Pageant!
California Grill
Situated at the top of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, California Grill is one of the most incredible fine dining experiences any Disney World guest can have.
Having been recognized by the Michelin Guide for its incredible quality, market-inspired menus, and innovative chefs, every Disney World guest must dine here at least once. Its 3-course selection menu featuring “contemporary, market-inspired cuisine” is sure to leave you completely satisfied!
And if you're unable to snag an advanced dining reservation here, don't worry. Show up to the check-in desk just before 5pm and ask to sit at the bar. You'll have access to the same drink menu as the dinner guests, along with a menu of delectable bar food and select dinner menu items.
And with wonderful views of Magic Kingdom and the nighttime spectacular along its outdoor terrace, the rooftop view is surely a cherry on top.
