Universal Making 2 Big Changes to Express Pass Offering, Adding in Most Popular Rides

Ever since Universal opened Epic Universe earlier this year, there have been a couple of attractions that were not included on Epic Universe Express Pass. These have shifted the Epic Universe park touring tips that we've recommended and determined for you.

Today we got news about two big changes to Express Pass at Epic Universe. Here's what we learned.

Changes to Epic Universe Express Pass Attraction Selection

Epic Universe opened earlier this summer with lands themed to How to Train Your Dragon, Harry Potter, Super Nintendo, and Classic Universal Monsters. We visited during the opening period of the new theme park and rated all of the new Epic Universe rides here. The Harry Potter and Super Nintendo areas are home to two the most popular attractions at the parks.

At Universal, Express Pass allows guests to proceed to a special entrance at the front of an attraction and enter without making any return time. This is different than Disney World's Lightning Lane Multi Pass offering. The Epic Universe version of Express Pass is also slightly different than the general Universal Orlando Express Pass. Unlike the other two Universal Orlando theme parks, hotel guests do not get Express Pass included for Epic Universe.

There was a change to the Express Pass offering today. They have now added in Mine-Cart Madness and Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, which is reflected in the Universal Orlando app and on the website pages for the two attractions. This could change again, but this is great news for those considering the offering. We rated these two attractions as some of our favorites at the park.

Dragon Racer's Rally still does not have Express Pass.

While Universal Orlando's website states that Express Pass for Epic Universe starts at $159.99 per person, the average price since it opened has hovered around $270 per person, with the price rising to $300 per person if you wait until the last minute to purchase. There are already dedicated entrances for Express Pass at these two attractions so it isn't surprising that they would be added here. Currently, the official website page for Express Pass still says that the offering is not available for these two attractions, though it also says this is subject to change. Our understanding is that now this has changed and that Express Pass is available for these two attractions.

I was blown away by the new Harry Potter attraction and am thrilled that it will be on Express Pass for more people to enjoy. When this attraction is working, the combination of the effects is stunning. Feels like real magic. The Mine-Cart Madness attraction is also lots of fun to both watch and ride.
