Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser CLOSING

In a surprising announcement, Disney has shared that the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will have its final voyage September 28-30, 2023.

Disney shared that the “Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is one of our most creative projects ever and has been praised by our guests and recognized for setting a new bar for innovation and immersive entertainment.”

They continued by saying that “this premium, boutique experience gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms, and as we prepare for its final voyage, we will take what we’ve learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our guests and fans.”

Disney also shared how proud they were of the Cast. Members and Imagineers who worked to bring the experience to life. They continued that they look forward to “delivering an excellent experience for Guests during the remaining voyages over the coming months.”

Disney will be reaching out to guests that have stays scheduled for dates past the September 30th date. New bookings for the experience are temporarily paused to give those guests the opportunity to rebook. Bookings will reopen for all on May 26th. Guests that have to reschedule are reportedly being offered up to 50% off to book one of the experiences this summer.

When bookings resume the previously announced Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser discounts are not expected to be offered. Read more about why we think the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser failed!

New Star Wars Themed Disney World Hotel Overview

Guests can enjoy a “first-of-its-kind vacation experience where guests will check in for a two-night adventure aboard a glamorous starship” at the Star Wars hotel at Walt Disney World. Guests have complete control over their experience and their own Star Wars story.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is an experience similar to that of the Disney Cruise Line where guests can stay for a two-night itinerary where all guests arrive and depart together. But unlike a cruise in this experience you become the hero of your own Star Wars story in an immersive story that puts you right into the movies.

Here is all the lingo for how this Disney World resort experienced is organized:

  • Halcyon: the name of the Starcruiser you board in this immersive experience
  • The Atrium: a welcoming place where crew and passengers gather
  • Passenger Cabins: your hotel room but with a twist… they're made to look completely like a spaceship cabin and the windows display what part of the galaxy you are currently moving through
  • Chandrila Star Line: your intergalactic ‘travel group' that runs the Halcyon

The name of the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser ship is called the Halcyon and includes windows (including those in your cabin!) with a view of the galaxy with constant changing scenes as you fly through space. Guests can explore the Halcyon and discover hidden spaces deep in the ship perfect for finding secrets or holding secret meetings.

The Halcyon is operated by the Chandrila Star Line which is renowned throughout the galaxy for its fleet of comfortable starcruisers, top service, great food, and exotic destinations.

When guests arrive they will board a Launch Pod which will “jump to hyperspace” and allow them to board the Halcyon. Through windows above, you’ll see yourself leave the real world behind as you jump to hyperspace and draw closer and closer to the Halcyon.

When the Launch Pod docks with the Halcyon and the airlock opens, you will step into the ship’s main deck Atrium to begin your journey through a galaxy far, far away.

Once onboard guests will stay in immersive cabins, onboard dining, make a trip to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu, and more. Disney has worked hard to carry that immersive detail we've seen in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge into this hotel so guests are invited to dive deeper into their personal Star Wars journey by participating in onboard activities, interacting with characters, crew, and other passengers.

s

One of the popular experiences includes wielding a lightsaber while facing off against a training remote where you may discover your own connection with the Force.

Guests can also to visit the Starcruiser's Bridge to learn about ship systems and how to operate them, including navigation and defense – skills that may come in handy during a journey through this adventure-filled galaxy.

s

And of course, this new Star Wars hotel will feature new dining options including a restaurant and lounge called The Sublight Lounge.

Another dining experience includes the Crown of Corellia Dining Room where guests can enjoy first-class cuisine.

The ship also includes areas for guests to explore like the Engineering Room as they live out their Star Wars story.

Dining at the New Star Wars Hotel

The dining onboard the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is similar to the way dining works on a cruise ship with set meals that are all included in the price of your stay.

Dinner

Your dinner on your first evening will take place in the Crown of Coreillia Dining Room as it transforms into a table-service supper club with live entertainment from a ‘galactic superstar.'

On the second night, the Taste Around the Galaxy gives you options of courses inspired by the geography and environments of planets throughout the galaxy. In other words, expect a lot of themed food for this meal!

With the serving of each course, a brief introduction presents the name, inspiration and ingredients for the dishes. The meal includes group appetizers for the table, a choice of entrée and a specialty plated dessert.

You will have the choice to indicate what time you would like dinner from two options of first or second dinner.

Breakfast and Lunch

You will also eat your breakfast and lunch in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room. These meals are buffet style as you help yourself to a variety of foods from all over the galaxy. But they're sure to mention this includes ‘familiar favorites' from your home planet which is good news for picky eaters!

Breakfast includes hot and cold small plates along with beverages including juice, coffee and blue milk!

Lunch includes a selection of small bites, like sandwiches/soups, flatbreads, salads, and desserts.

Sublight Lounge

The Sublight Lounge is essentially the bar on the new Star Wars hotel which is a themed lounge inspired by the ship's (Halcyon) voyages throughout the galaxy. Expect to see themed characters in this lounge along with the chance to play a game of holo-sabacc.

Captain's Table

The Captain's Table is an upgraded experience for an extra fee to allow you to sit at the captain's table featuring extra courses in a special location in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room.

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo

During your excursion to Batuu, you will get a quick-service meal included at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo.

If you like, you can also choose to have your quick-service meal at another quick-service location in Hollywood Studios instead.

Activities for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

There are a range of activities, which you can get a preview of from the sample itinerary below, but there are further details available of the guaranteed experiences for guests.

Storytelling

A big part of the experience of staying at the Star Wars hotel is being immersed in the Star Wars story you create for yourself- so for guests can enjoy roleplay, this is a dream come true. You get to decide though how in depth you want to get whether you go all out and don costumes or just lightly participate. You will meet Star Wars characters and interact with them throughout your stay- you will be given the option to join them on ‘daring missions' during this experience.

You will also be given special features to access on the Play Disney Parks app for the Star Wars: Datapad where you can see your personalized itinerary for your stay along with communications from the crew and other characters. The experience will use the app to invite you to ‘secret meetings and adventures.'

Bridge Training

During this experience, guests can explore the working bridge of the Halcyon starcruiser and learn how it functions. The crew will teach you how the navigation, power, defense and other systems work. There is a hint that this experience may come in handy later- possibly for a storytelling experience.

Lightsaber Training

Guests 7 years of age and up can participate in lightsaber training in an interactive activity with a remote training device.

Planet Excursion to Batuu

You also get to a trip to Batuu included in your stay which guarantees you a ride on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance! Since this ride is notoriously popular to ride this is a great perk. You will also be given priority on Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run.

Relax in the Sublight Lounge

The Sublight Lounge will also play a part in your activities onboard the Star Wars: Starcruiser. This Star Wars themed bar/lounge will offer the chance to play Sabacc while you enjoy a variety of themed cocktails.
