Disney Testing Single Rider for Rise of the Resistance, But There’s a Big Drawback

Rise of the Resistance is one of the most popular rides at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. This Star Wars themed attraction is always high in demand with wait times always exceeding an hour at both parks.

Rise of the Resistance is one of the first Disney attractions to take guests through multiple immersive experiences before boarding the ride itself as guests try to escape Kylo Ren and are rescued by the Resistance.

Currently, Rise of the Resistance at both parks offers an Individual Lightning Lane purchase (soon to be called Single Pass Lightning Lane) and a standby line. Now Walt Disney World is testing a NEW single rider option but there is one big drawback!

Walt Disney World Single Rider Options

Disneyland rides ranked Rise of the Resistance

Currently, there are a limited number of single rider attractions at Walt Disney World compared to Disneyland with only four attractions offering it in the entire resort.

The current rides that offer Single Rider at Walt Disney World are Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Test Track, Expedition Everest, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.

Disney World Single Rider lines are separate lines from the regular queue that serve the purpose to fill empty seats on attractions. So when you decide to use single rider lines you agree to not be seated with your group in order to board the attraction quicker. Disney never wants to send ride vehicles off with empty seats that could be filled with guests!

Rise of the Resistance Tests Single Rider

Rise of the Resistance

Walt Disney World started testing a single rider line for Rise of the Resistance in Disney's Hollywood Studios over the weekend. According to Cast Members, this is just a test run to see well how it works and if it's something worth continuing in the future.

Doing a test run to see how efficient Single Rider is for Rise of the Resistance is a logical move as sometimes the demand for attractions can be so overcome that it makes Single Rider a bit useless. This is part of what Disney will be studying as they test Single Rider on Rise of the Resistance.

To enter the Single Rider line for Rise of the Resistance, just look for the sign located right outside the attraction that will direct you on how to enter.

Drawback to Using Single Rider for Rise of the Resistance

Rise of the Resistance

There is one catch to using Single Rider for Rise of the Resistance!

Guests that opt in to using Single Rider are skipping ALL the pre-show scenes of the attraction which means skipping the room with Rey & BB-8, the transport vehicle, and the room featuring the Stormtroopers.

The line skips past all those elements and guests enter the ride directly before you board the ride vehicles.

Is Single Rider for Rise of the Resistance Worth It?

rise of the resistance

For guests that have ridden Rise of the Resistance before and have experienced the multiple preshows before boarding the attraction, Single Rider is likely worth it.

But for new riders experiencing Rise of the Resistance for the first time, I would not recommend this option for experiencing the attraction. Rise of the Resistance is one of the most acclaimed rides at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World and the immersive pre-show elements are a core part of that experience for first timers.

But many guests will likely be happy to make this trade off in order to experience the ride with a shorter wait time especially if you've seen these pre-shows multiple times!

Will Disneyland Get Single Rider for Rise of the Resistance?

If testing goes well for Single Rider at Walt Disney World, we may also see this option implemented at Disneyland.

There is a different demographic of park guests at Disneyland with more locals willing to take advantage of Single Rider options so it would make sense to me to start testing this at Disneyland!
