3 New Disneyland Park Ride Closures Added to Refurbishment Calendar, Including a Top Roller Coaster

It's important to stay current on the upcoming Disneyland ride refurbishments so that you're not caught off guard during your trip! Disneyland will close rides for routine maintenance throughout the year to make sure they are running properly and implement any updates needed.

Disneyland just added a few new closures to the calendar right after the kickoff of the Disneyland Halloween celebration at the resort, which includes a popular thrill ride. Keep reading for details about these upcoming closures and how long they will last!

New Disneyland Closures Added to Calendar

Three new ride closures have been added to the Disneyland calendar right after the kickoff of Halloween at Disneyland, including a popular thrill ride at Disneyland Park.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be closing on September 2 for refurbishment. No reopening date has been listed yet. There are also a few other shorter closures now on the calendar. Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island is closing for refurbishment on September 15, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant is closing on September 16. Both of these will reopen on September 18.

These closures will share some overlap with a month-long closure of a major thrill ride at the resort. The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closure will share a few days of overlap with the longer Star Tours – The Adventures Continue closure that will be wrapping up. Over in Fantasyland, Casey Jr. Circus Train and Storybook Land Canal Boats are still without reopening dates, so these may also share some overlap with these newly announced closures. These newly announced closures are taking place during what we anticipate will be a generally quieter stretch of time in our Mickey Visit Disneyland crowd calendar. We expect there will be an initial rush of crowds due to the kickoff of the Halloween celebration that will then settle down heading into September.
