Disneyland’s Fanciest Restaurant Getting Upscale Outdoor Dining Addition

We just got a look at a new upscale outdoor addition at Disneyland’s Napa Rose, which is part of a bigger set of changes coming to Disney’s Grand Californian.

This top restaurant, considered the “culinary crown jewel” of the Disneyland Resort hotels, closed earlier this year for a multi-month renovation that will introduce some new enhancements to the space and menu. Keep reading for the new concept art and details revealed for the enhanced outdoor area of the Napa Rose!

Napa Rose Construction Update

Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa has been closed since April for a large renovation due to improvements coming to the three onsite Disneyland Resort hotels. The changes will enhance the design of the restaurant, enhance some of its existing offerings, and introduce a new menu.

During the closure, the luxurious Disneyland character dining experience Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures, featuring a 3-course breakfast and time with favorite princesses, has remained operational in one of the ballrooms in the hotel. We will be happy to see Napa Rose reopen, as this is one of our top-ranked Disneyland restaurants.

While we don’t have an opening date yet, we got a look at more concept art for an updated outdoor space.

Napa Rose New Outdoor Space

The outdoor patio at Napa Rose is being enhanced to welcome more guests for al fresco dining with lush greenery and soft lighting. There will be two new fireplaces, which will add a cozy and inviting touch to the atmosphere.

This enhanced patio area will be a great upgrade to the space that will fit nicely into the vision of “rustic elegance” that the renovation is going for. In our initial announcement of the Disneyland Napa Rose closure, we mentioned how we were looking forward ot the patio improvements in particular, as this space was not the best utilized and set up mostly for receptions.

We already love the relaxing ambiance of the outdoor patio of GCH Craftsman Bar, which is one of our favorite hidden gem Disneyland restaurants. This outdoor patio is the quintessential Southern California setting underneath a trellis with beautiful lights in the evenings. We’re happy to see that an outdoor space like this is being enhanced for Napa Rose guests to enjoy now as well.

In addition to the enhanced patio space, the Napa Rose renovation will also include expanded exhibition kitchen counters where guests can watch the culinary team at work, as well as a refined menu that will include new additions and favorites like the Smiling Tiger Salad, as well as an extensive wine collection of more than 1,500 labels.

The renovation will introduce a new look that “celebrates Craftsman design with an eye toward modern Californian luxury and approachability.” Inspired by California’s history of wine and winemaking, the restaurant will feature details like reclaimed French oak flooring and columns (a type of wood used to make wine barrels), as well as hand-pinged artisan metals, leathers, cabernet colors, and a chandelier inspired by California’s Mission grapevines. You can see the concept artwork that Disney previously shared for the renovated space below.

As mentioned before, we still do not yet have an official reopening date, but Disney previously shared that the restaurant will reopen in the fall of 2025. Meanwhile, there are also some other changes in the works for Disney’s Grand Californian, including a refresh of all of its rooms, as well as a new concierge lounge inspired by giant sequoias. You can see more details about all of the changes coming to the Disneyland Resort hotels in 2025 and 2026 here.

This weekend has been big for Disney news as we’ve been live reporting from Destination D23, which has featured several presentations from across the Walt Disney Company. So far, highlights have focused on a new Walt Disney Audio-Animatronics figure being added to Disney World, changes to TRON Lightcycle / Run, a new documentary featuring behind-the-scenes footage, and a look at design inspiration for the new Villains Land coming to Disney World.
