Mickey’s Tales of Adventure at Storyteller’s Cafe

Mickey's Tales of Adventure

I timed our reservation to take advantage of their brunch hours so we could enjoy rides during the morning before heading over to the Grand Californian for brunch at 11AM. We started our day in California Adventure following our park touring strategy for that park and then used the hotel entrance to the Grand Californian from inside the park which made for a seamless transition to the restaurant. Anyone can use this entrance after Extra Magic Hours is over so don’t be afraid to take advantage of it!

You’ll find the buffet in the center of the restaurant, they will often have two lines open.

Upon check in, you’re directed to a table and then from there it’s a serve your yourself buffet style. Like with all character dining, don’t worry about leaving your table- the characters will make their rounds to you. Get your food, relax, and they will come to you! If you ever have issues with characters missing your table, just tell a cast member and they’ll rectify the situation.

Here are some of the amazing options at the buffet:

Food at Mickey's Tales of Adventure
Every buffet at Disneyland will offer basic cereal, pastries, fruit, etc.

Cereal milk anyone?

That’s just a small sampling of the things offered, you can also find a make our own omelette station, Mickey waffles, Banana Foster french toast, hash browns, and more.

You will meet Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Chip, and Dale at this character dining all in their themed adventure outfits. Have your character autograph book on the table and your camera ready so you’re prepared when they come around the room.

Every thirty minutes or so they will also lead the kids in a sort of dance line around the restaurant. Kids love this- the characters come and get them from their tables personally. Even my ‘so cool’ nine year old joined in, although later he disclosed to me he only did just to spare Mickey’s feelings. If you have older kids, they won’t be able to resist. My son loved it.

The price tag for this breakfast buffet is a bit higher than other character dining options at Disneyland being a ‘premiere experience’ but with the outstanding food the Grand Californian is known for along with meeting Mickey Mouse I felt the price was worth it. This was the best food I’ve ever had at any character dining experience and I was extremely impressed.

The bill for one adult and one child.

Overall, I’d highly recommend this character dining experience. If you time it right and use it as a brunch option while you’re in California Adventure it fits seamlessly into your day since the entrance to the hotel is accessible from the park. The food here is great and you get to meet Mickey Mouse! But it is one of the more expensive character meal options and you’re really paying for the better food in that price.
