New Frontierland Disney Vacation Club Lounge Opens in Magic Kingdom With Fun Storytelling Details

Disney World has announced that the newest Disney Vacation Club Lounge in Magic Kingdom that replaced the opening-day attraction Frontierland Shootin' Arcade is open. We now have a first look inside the new lounge as well as some of the hidden storytelling details that make up the space!

These private lounges are one of the perks of being a Disney Vacation Club member, providing a place for them to relax with free WiFi, phone charging spaces, and complimentary soft drinks. This Disney Vacation Club lounge news follows some new details we just received about the new lounge coming to EPCOT which will be an adults-only space.

This lounge was set to open in Summer 2025, but opened multiple months early today on March 18, 2025. Keep reading for a look inside this new Frontierland Disney Vacation Club space that is now open!

The new Magic Kingdom Disney Vacation Club Lounge, called Disney Vacation Club McKim's Mile House, is a cozy space in Frontierland imbued with “rustic charm” that is “inspired by the adventurous spirit of exploration from a bygone era.”

The lounge's namesake is Disney Legend Sam McKim, who was the concept artist for the original Frontierland at Disneyland. Imagineers took inspiration from the mile houses of the American West for this lounge, which were locations across the frontier where travelers could check in for some rest. This lounge serves the same purpose for Disney Vacation Club members as they can enjoy a quiet moment away from the excitement of the parks.

The lounge's second floor is off-limits, but a fun storytelling detail is that in the McKim house, the stairs lead to boarding rooms that are occupied by some familiar names like “Barnabas T. Bullion,” the fictional owner and founder of Big Thunder Mining Company, and “M. Davis,” referencing Disney Legend Marc Davis.

The member lounge provides complimentary soft drinks for visitors as well as WiFi and phone charging spaces.

The space is filled with several details that highlight the backstory of the fictional McKim host family (see some of the drawings created by the McKim children below)!

Disney refers to the space as “The Frontier’s Best Kept Secret,” which is a nod to the former Disney Vacation Club slogan, “Discover the best kept Disney secret.”

The new Disney Vacation Club McKim’s Mile House is now open daily from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. EST for eligible Disney Vacation Club members. Interestingly these hours are a little shorter than the EPCOT Lounge hours which is our one Walt Disney World comparison.

You can also read about the other in-park Disney Vacation lounges including the recently refurbished Disney Vacation Club lounge in EPCOT and Disney Vacation Club lounge in Tomorrowland at Disneyland. We get a good amount of use out of these other lounges. They're a nice perk for Disney Vacation Club members that makes the offering feel like something special for guests in the theme parks.
