This week, two attractions will begin their seasonal closures before the Christmas celebration at Disneyland kicks off. “it's a small world” will be closed from October 30 through November 13 to transform into “it's a small world” Holiday, and Redwood Creek Challenge Trail will be closed from November 1 through November 13. Both attractions are scheduled to reopen with the kickoff of the holidays on November 14. See all Disneyland ride refurbishments currently on the calendar.

Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas is this week’s feature at Movie Nights at Downtown Disney Presented by M&M’S! Catch it on October 29 at 7 PM at the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage & Lawn. These showings have been very popular, but we expect this one to be especially crowded because it's the last one of the season.

Disneyland Park top three Halloween foods

This week marks the end of the Halloween celebration at the resort and the Plaza de la Familia celebration at Disney California Adventure. The last day of the Halloween celebration is October 31. After this time, Disneyland will remove the Halloween decorations and start putting up the holiday decorations in anticipation of that celebration starting in a few weeks. Though some Disneyland Halloween foods will no longer be offered after October 31, many seasonal items will still be available through November 13. The Plaza de la Familia celebration ends after November 2.

Starting November 1, Wondrous Journeys returns for a limited run in this transitional period before the holidays. It will show with fireworks on the weekends (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays) and with projections during the week. You can see all of the transitional changes between Halloween and the holidays detailed here.

If you're visiting this week, make sure to note the hours of operation for the parks. From Monday to Wednesday, the parks will have shorter hours of operation, with Disneyland Park closing at 10 pm. From Thursday through Sunday, Disneyland Park will close at 11 pm. Outside of Oogie Boogie Bash dates, Disney California Adventure will close at 9 pm on all other days of the week. Oogie Boogie Bash will close Disney California Adventure early at 6 pm on Tuesday, October 28, and Friday, October 31. See all Disneyland early closure dates for the rest of the year here. If you're headed to the event this year, see our Oogie Boogie Bash 2025 strategy and itinerary. Oogie Boogie Bash tickets are sold out for all party dates.

During Halloween week, you can expect high crowds as many come out to visit for the final days of the celebration. Heading into next week, we expect a pretty dramatic switch-up in crowd patterns as we enter what is typically a very quiet week at the start of November. This is a good time to visit for low crowds if you don't mind the lack of an official seasonal celebration. You can see crowd calendar projections of all upcoming dates in our Mickey Visit Disneyland Crowd Calendar.
