Last year in January, a classic ride was temporarily added to the list of attractions that offered Disneyland Lightning Lane Multi Pass due to construction happening in the New Orleans Square area at that time. As the Haunted Mansion was closed for work on its expanded queue, and the reimagining of Splash Mountain into Tiana's Bayou Adventure was still in development, this ride was temporarily added to Lightning Lane Multi Pass to increase the perceived value of the service during this construction period.
This change seemed to be sticking around for a lot longer than anticipated, and we feared it may be permanent, but we now have news that it will soon be removed as a Lightning Lane Multi Pass offering. Keep reading for more details…

Classic Ride Temporary Lightning Lane Removed
Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland Park has been a “temporary” Lightning Lane attraction since January 2024 and has retained that status all the way until now in mid-2025. This was starting to look like a permanent addition because it had been a bit since all of the New Orleans Square construction had been finished, and there was no announcement of its removal at that time.

Now, we have news that Pirates of the Caribbean will no longer be offered as a Lightning Lane Multi Pass ride as of July 1, 2025. This means the last day to use Lightning Lane for Pirates of the Caribbean will be June 30.

We are honestly relieved to see this change to remove Lightning Lane. It has had the unfortunate effect of slowing down the standby line and contributed to the space problems we've been seeing recently for the Pirates queue, with the standby line spilling out into the walkway area. See an example of this on a particularly crowded day in the photo below. Hopefully, the removal of Lightning Lane will help to alleviate this issue a little bit, but we still think that improving this area may be Disneyland's next major construction project.

This is a good move. A high capacity ride like this does NOT need a LL – it really made the Standby Line too long for no good reason. Now all they need to do is ADD Rise of the Resistance and Carsland Radiator Springs Racers to Lightning Lane – instead of nickel-n-diming their guests with SEPAERATE LL costs!!
