Mickey’s Halloween Party Ticket Information
The tickets for the 2018 Disneyland Halloween Party went on sale early for Disneyland Annual Passholders, Disney Rewards Visa card holders, and Disney Vacation Club members on June 5. Tickets went on sale to the general public one week later on June 12.
All of the tickets to the Halloween Party must be purchased directly from Disneyland. Sadly there isn’t a discount I could secure for you, the same way I secured the lowest price of Disneyland tickets available anywhere through an official Disney partner when you purchase through the private link.
The Disneyland Mickey’s Halloween Party is a local favorite and sells out rapidly. If you are visiting the park on any of the dates of the Halloween party listed above, be aware that Disneyland Park closes early for the party and forces all non-party guests to exit around 6 pm or 7 pm. For this reason, it is imperative that if you aren’t attending the party, you have a park hopper ticket so that you can enter Disney California Adventure rather than having no other theme park to visit for the day.

Mickey’s Halloween Party Overview and Tips
There is quite a bit included with the Disneyland Halloween Party this year.
- Access to both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure park up to three hours before the start of the Halloween party.
- Unlimited use of the many trick-or-treat trails throughout the entire park. (If you wanted to, you could walk away with an entire pillow case full.) You can bring your own bag from home, but each guest will actually receive a free bag upon entering the party.
- Disneyland attractions throughout the entire park, including the special Halloween offerings: the Haunted Mansion Holiday and Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy.
- A showing of the popular Halloween Screams fireworks that can only be seen during the Halloween parties. This is really the big ticket entertainment item during the entire party. Make sure you are in front of the castle.
- There are lots of character meet and greets set up throughout the entire park. Most have some special Halloween twist added into them. Classic characters will be wearing special Halloween costumes and little seen villains may make an appearance.
- Throughout the park, there are various musical groups and other small entertainment that really makes the night special. The popular Dapper Dan singing group are transformed into the much spookier Cadaver Dans.
- New This Year: The ride of the Headless Horseman down the parade route will kick off the Halloween Party. For years, we Disneyland fans have been jealous of the cool character in Florida. Now, we finally get our own.
- Just Announced: On top of the addition of the Headless Horseman, there will be a new Frightfully Fun parade that features the Disney villains and Haunted Mansion characters. This is an incredible addition to the event and, from the information that we have been given, makes a trip to the Mickey’s Halloween party worth it.
Disneyland Halloween Party Costume Rules
With the recent changes in rules for costumes at Disneyland, make sure to take a look at the special guidelines specifically for the Mickey’s Halloween Party event.
“While we encourage creativity, we also value safety and good judgement. Please take a moment to read over our latest rules and regulations:
- Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable or violent.
- Guests who dress like characters may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests.
- Costumes may not contain any weapons that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest.
- Layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and may be subject to additional security screening.
- Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground. (e.g. full-length Princess dresses).
For Guests Ages 13 and Under
Costumes and some masks may be worn, as long the mask does not cover the entire face and eyes are visible.
For Guests Ages 14 and Older
- Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist.
- Themed T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts and hats are acceptable.
- Acceptable accessories include: transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords and tutus. Headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover the face.
- Masks of any kind may not be worn.
Guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused entry into, and/or removed from, unless his or her costume can be modified to meet the above standards.” -From Disneyland Official Website
Disneyland Mickey’s Halloween Party Tips and Tricks
Last year I sat down with Casey Starnes, an expert on all things Disneyland Halloween, to get all the best information on planning a visit during Mickey’s Halloween Party. You can listen to the full podcast episode for all of our tips>
- Do not spend a lot of time trick-or-treating. You can always find candy elsewhere, but you don’t always have access to all of the great attractions and entertainment. Better to buy your kids a full bag of candy than to waste your time waiting in line.
- A bracelet will be given to you when you check in. This bracelet must be worn once the party starts, otherwise you will be ushered out with the rest of the park guests when the actual party begins.
- In the same way that Disneyland one-day tickets are now priced based on expected popularity, the Mickey’s Halloween Party ticket prices reflect the amount of people Disney expects to visit. The more expensive days on the list above have historically been the more crowded ones.
- Make the most of your three hours in the park before the Halloween party. If you will not be in the park earlier in the day, make sure to get the most of your Disneyland experience by arriving right at the beginning of your entrance time. The park should not be extremely crowded, as most guests will avoid the park on party days because anyone who isn’t going to the park is forced to leave at 6 pm or 7 pm.
- Part of the fun of the event is wearing costumes. Most of the children will be in costume, plus some of the adults. If you are not interested in costumes, still wear something festive as I think it really puts you in the right spirit.
- Be sure to view the fireworks show, Halloween Screams, from in front of the castle. There are projections used and specific props you can only see from this vantage point.
- Take advantage of the low crowd levels at Disneyland. Nearly every attraction is open. With little to no line, you can enjoy most of the top attractions in the park.
- Upon entering the park, be sure to pick up a map showing where all of the Disney characters and trick-or-treat trails are set up around the park. The characters won’t start meeting and greeting until the beginning of the party. If there is one character you want to see, you may want to head over there fifteen minutes before the beginning of the party. This way you are in line and ready to meet them when the characters come out.
- In previous years, Toontown has been closed to the general public starting three hours before the party begins. Toontown is open to party guests to come in and meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse with a minimal wait. We are still waiting to see if the same procedure will work for the Disneyland Halloween Party 2018.
- Take your picture with the giant Mickey Mouse pumpkin on the end of Main Street USA early on in the party. By the end of the evening, the line for this simple photo op is extremely long.
Is Disneyland Mickey’s Halloween Party Worth It?
The Disneyland Halloween party is totally for you IF:
- You are not going to purchase a whole day park ticket and have some other activity, such as traveling to the resort, planned for the morning. In this case, the party fits in perfectly, saving you money over paying for another day on your ticket.
- You have kids that like meeting characters and will really value the prime one-on-one time they receive. Mickey’s Halloween Party is known for having some of the best character experiences available at Disneyland all year round.
- You are really into Halloween or Disney, or both and want to experience everything that there is at the Disneyland Resort. For me, the party is more of a checklist item than a top hit. I much more enjoy Disneyland Christmas.
While this event is another top notch showing by Disneyland, you can have a great Halloween experience when you visit Disneyland during any part of the Halloween season ranging from late September-October.
Bottom Line: You can skip this event if you are not excited by the idea of additional special entertainment, character meet and greets, and trick-or-treat candy stations throughout the park. If you are into these offerings, than this event is perfect for you.
