There are many great hotels near Disneyland that provide an affordable option for families who are visiting and decide not to stay on property. There are options for Disneyland hotels that are walking distance and accessible by shuttle. One of the hotels near Disneyland with a great “water park” pool area just announced a rebranding and disassociation with a national chain.
We actually recently stayed here to provide an updated review of the hotel, so we had to bring you an update on this change. At Mickey Visit we bring you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including the recent news about Bluey at the Disney Parks and all of the upcoming Disneyland 2026 events. Another hotel near Disneyland is about to complete a major renovation as is another popular one.

Hotel Near Disneyland Dropping National Brand

We just learned that the Cambria Hotel & Suites, located near Disneyland, is rebranding to “Anaheim Suites Hotel” and dropping its national chain loyalty program. The hotel is known for its large recreation water park pool area and suite-style rooms.

In our recent review of the Cambria, we spotlighted that this is one of the newer hotels near Disneyland, the spacious two-room suites with bunk beds, free breakfast, and large pool and recreation area. This is a 352-room hotel about a 20-minute walk to the front gates of Disneyland, though it feels much closer than that.
Now, turning to what this rebrand means for the hotel. The Cambria brand is part of the Choice Hotels family. The hotel is leaving the Choice Hotels family after six years of operation. This news is most important for anyone who used the Choice Hotels brand privileges or currently has a reservation booked (more on this below).

The hotels around Disneyland generally fall into three categories right now – part of the top two loyalty brands (Hilton HHonors or Marriott Bonvoy), an independent hotel without any chain branding, or part of one of the smaller hotel chains. The hotels in the last bucket are in a difficult spot. They have to pay the national chain fees for the brand halo of their national brand, but the brand may not be strong enough to drive real demand. This is all happening as the two largest hotel brands have grown in size and eaten up share of the business traveler market.
This then means that when business travelers go on vacation, they often look to the hotel chain where they have loyalty to book their hotel. My guess is that this situation is what caused the Cambria to rebrand. They were paying to be called the Cambria, but not getting the benefit of being associated with the brand the way they would be if they were a Residence Inn or Hilton Garden Inn. Then, on the other hand, they don’t get to define their own brand as something unique to Anaheim.

For me, the only Cambria Hotel & Suites I knew was this location near Disneyland, so that location was actually having to work to establish the hotel brand. When the hotel was opened in 2019, the Cambria brand heralded it as the largest Cambria in the chain. Now, the “Anaheim Suites Hotel” team will work to build brand awareness and love among Disneyland guests for their new hotel name. Now, they’ll have to worry about building their own reputation and having their name stand out compared to the existing “The Anaheim Hotel” property.

The hotel will still maintain its Good Neighbor status and will still offer discounts through our travel partner, Get Away Today. You can always save on hotels and tickets when you book via our travel partner. If you have a reservation booked with the hotel, I would recommend that you reach out to the company that you booked with. If you booked with our travel partner, Get Away Today, you are all set and do not need to reach out. They have already handled the transition.
We expect that the Cambria, now “Anaheim Suites Hotel”, will remain a solid, affordable hotel option near Disneyland for families. There are not expected to be any changes at the hotel beyond the removal of branding. We will keep reporting on these shifts if there is any bigger change to the hotel experience.

Great they are changing the name, but will people booking this new branding name get points for staying at the hotel, like other major hotel brands? Quite a few people use those point for a free night stay, and many stay at hotels for this reason.
Definitely true! This is now going to be an independent hotel that functions outside of a brand with points.
