Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party is fast approaching its 2026 season of after-hours, family-friendly spooks at Disney California Adventure in Disneyland Resort. One of the highlights of Oogie Boogie Bash is getting to see rare Disney Villains throughout the park’s many treat trails. The roster of Villains changes each year slightly, with Disney usually introducing one or two new additions into the mix, and we have our first look at who’s coming in 2026.
Disneyland hinted at a new Disney Villain joining Oogie Boogie Bash for 2026’s party, concealing the character’s identity but leaving enough clues to know who it is. We think that fans are going to be pretty excited to see this particular character! New Villain Coming to Disneyland’s Halloween Party
Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party will take place at Disney California Adventure on select nights from August 18 through October 31, 2026. Tickets are now on sale, and some dates have already sold out. This year’s party features a big change to its usual parade.

Disneyland posted a 21-second teaser video to social media for a new Villain joining Oogie Boogie Bash. The video, which has no dialogue or narration, begins with clouds of purple smoke. As the smoke dissipates, a table of glass vials is revealed, like the kind one might use to create scientific potions. Several vials are filled with pink liquid. A single purple feather slowly falls upon the table.
Another blast of smoke fills the screen, and text appears. “Guess who is joining the party,” it reads, before displaying the Oogie Boogie Bash logo.
Disneyland accompanied the short video with this caption: “A mysterious potion is brewing… 🧪💜And the villain behind it has big plans for Oogie Boogie Bash. Any guesses who’s concocting trouble this Halloween season?”
Given all of these hints, the Disney Villain being teased is most certainly Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove! Yzma has a potion for every occasion, with her signature purple wardrobe accessorized with chic feathers.

Yzma’s character appearances at Disneyland have been extremely rare over the years. Her highest-profile appearance in a domestic Disney park was during the one-night-only Kuzcotopia at Walt Disney World as part of a D23 event in 2025.
However, during Kuzcotopia, Yzma appeared as a masked character. Following the precedent of other Villain characters at Oogie Boogie Bash, who verbally interact with guests along treat trails, we expect the Halloween party version of Yzma to be a face character, with the performer’s face fully visible and not concealed by a mask, in order for Yzma to chat with guests. This will also undoubtedly mean party-goers will get to hear some of her hilarious one-liners from the film. If anyone in the crowd attends the party in a Kuzco costume, Yzma may snidely remark, “A llama? He’s supposed to be dead!”
Yzma has appeared as a face character at Disneyland Paris in the past.
It remains to be seen whether Yzma would be accompanied at Oogie Boogie Bash by her bumbling assistant, Kronk, who’s also a rarity among Disney characters.
We expect Yzma to be very popular at Oogie Boogie Bash. Kuzcotopia was a big hit at Walt Disney World, and I’d even place it among my favorite evenings ever in a Disney park. It’s great to see Disney meeting the demand on the West Coast for fans’ love of The Emperor’s New Groove, which debuted in 2000 and has grown to achieve “cult movie” status for its witty script and memorable characters.
In the past few years, Oogie Boogie Bash added two new Villains each year, so there is likely another character teaser still to come, possibly a retired Villain from years past.

With the arrival of Yzma to Oogie Boogie Bash, one of the previous Disney Villains along the party’s treat trails may be replaced. Here was the full lineup of Villains who appeared in the treat trails for 2025’s Oogie Boogie Bash:
- Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty
- Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit
- Oogie Boogie from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas
- Hades from Hercules
- Syndrome from The Incredibles
- Dr. Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb
- Yokai from Big Hero 6
- Ernesto de la Cruz from Coco
- Agatha Harkness from WandaVision and Agatha All Along
Syndrome was the new Villain in 2025, replacing Sid from Toy Story. Maleficent returned to the party in 2025 after not appearing for several years, replacing Madame Mim from The Sword in the Stone in the Villain lineup.
