Disneyland Early Entry Will Switch Park Days, Impacting Rope Drop Next Week

Occasionally, special events at Disneyland will impact park operations, like park hours and Early Entry for guests of the Disneyland Resort hotels. This recently happened during Disneyland's anniversary in July, when the designated parks for Early Entry were switched around that week.

Looking ahead to next week, we can see on the daily events calendar that there will be a change to the usual Early Entry schedule for hotel guests due to the runDisney event happening. Keep reading for details and how it may impact your mornings at the parks…

Early Entry Change Next Week

Early Entry gives Disneyland Resort hotel guests 30 minutes of early access to select attractions, dining, and shopping at a designated theme park each day before it officially opens. Early Entry is typically offered at Disneyland Park on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, and at Disney California Adventure on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

Next week, the runDisney Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend will take place from September 4-7. On Friday, September 5th, Early Entry will be offered at Disneyland Park instead of Disney California Adventure. Then, on Saturday, September 6th, early Entry will be offered at Disney California Adventure instead of Disneyland Park. After the event ends, this schedule goes back to normal.

Hotel guests should be aware of this so that they can adjust their theme park reservations to align with the day that is offering Early Entry if they haven't done so already. Hotel guests can access a separate bucket of reservations from regular theme park guests if they have their hotel reservation confirmation in the Disneyland app, so this shouldn't present an issue. This will also impact the morning rope drop strategy of regular non-park hotel guests, who will not have Early Entry ahead of them as they usually would for the specific parks on these dates.

While Early Entry will still be offered for a few more months, Disneyland recently shared the news that it will be ending this perk for hotel guests soon and replacing it with a Lightning Lane perk. This was shared alongside the news that a private hotel theme park entrance will also be removed.

The Oogie Boogie Bash parties taking place at Disney California Adventure during the Halloween celebration at Disneyland will also impact park operations on event nights during the next few months. Make sure you're aware of the dates of all early park closures at Disney California Adventure if you have a visit planned soon.
