Disneyland attractions, especially the park’s oldest rides, occasionally close for refurbishment so that its maintenance teams can perform routine updates and keep these classics up to modern standards. We keep track of these closures to help you plan your trip.
Disneyland added two attractions to its refurbishment closure calendar, and provided an update on an additional closure. We have dates and details for all three attractions. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including a new Disney Villains merchandise collection and perks for hotel guests at Disneyland Resort in August.

As previously announced, the Mark Twain Riverboat will close for refurbishment on September 8, 2026. We now know this work will only last a few days, and that the attraction will reopen on September 12.
This follows the scheduled August closures for the Rivers of America’s other boat-based attractions, Sailing Ship Columbia and Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes. It’s unclear if those closures are operational or for refurbishment.
However, after the Mark Twain Riverboat closure, Disney won’t be finished working on the Rivers of America area at large.
Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island will close for refurbishment starting September 14, 2026. The language can be confusing here, so remember that “Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island” is what Disney calls the whole island, not just one specific part of it. The entirety of Tom Sawyer Island will be closed, as will the short raft ride across the Rivers of America to access the island.
Disney has not announced a reopening date for Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, nor has it specified the extent of whatever work is being done during the refurbishment.

There is one more newly announced Disneyland ride closure. Mad Tea Party, the spinning teacups ride that’s been around since the park’s opening day in 1955, will be closed for refurbishment starting September 14, 2026.
Disney has not shared a reopening date for Mad Tea Party or what will be worked on during the ride’s downtime. Earlier this year, we went behind the scenes with Disneyland’s maintenance team to hear about how these cast members navigate refurbishments of classic rides.
More Disneyland Resort Ride Closures
The closure updates for the Mark Twain Riverboat, Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, and Mad Tea Party join other previously announced Disneyland Resort attraction refurbishments.
Silly Symphony Swings at Disney California Adventure has been closed since April, with no reopening date announced.
Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Park will be closed from August 8 to August 20 as Disney transforms it into its seasonal overlay inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. That version, Haunted Mansion Holiday, will debut August 21 and continue running through the end of the year.
Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland Park will close for refurbishment starting September 8. Disney has not announced a reopening date.

When will Disneyland and Disney world company close the current version of Tianas Bayou Adventure? That ride takes place right before the 1927 Mississippi river flood disaster event.
But also I feel Tianas Bayou Adventure ride is very lacking and barebones and incomplete. If Disney park company closes Tiana’s Bayou Adventure both in California and Florida. Here’s the ride refurbishment update I want to see, first of all I want to see more animatronic Bayou birds of different kinds including Mama Odies spoonbill birds dancing to dig a little deeper song especially at the dropoff with rows of screens of spoonbill birds dancing as we reach the big dropoff levee hill splash.
Also I want to see a little bluebird on the ride and a showboat and 2 animatronics of Naveen and Louis arguing with each other as featured in Tianas Bayou Adventure little Golden book. And give us a Mississippi flood warning sign as part of the 1927 flood memorial rememberance of the American flood history.
If Disney imagineers and park manager reads this comment. Let them know I’m ready for an update revision Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride with more to look at.
