Disney World Skyliner Closing in Early 2026 and 2027

One of the best transportation options at Walt Disney World is the Disney Skyliner, which allows easy access to Hollywood Studios and EPCOT from your resort hotel.

The Skyliner typically closes for routine maintenance during the slow months of the year, and we now know the dates for the next two closures. You should definitely NOT book a Skyliner resort hotel during this time period.

Disney Skyliner Refurbishment Dates Revealed

Earlier this year, we found out that the next Disney Skyliner refurbishment will take place from January 25 through January 31, 2026. This is a relatively short refurbishment, which is good news for guests visiting in January 2026. This timeline gave guests a little less than a year’s notice.

Now Disney is giving even more advance notice by announcing the next Disney Skyliner refurbishment, which will take place January 24 through January 30, 2027. This gives guests over a year’s advance notice, which is ideal since many guests plan their Walt Disney World vacations that far in advance.

Both these timelines are pretty consistent, as all the other past scheduled closures took place in late January since 2021.

While the Disney Skyliner is closed, Disney will offer bus service to and from Hollywood Studios and EPCOT for the impacted resorts. Typically, bus service isn’t offered for these theme parks at Skyliner resorts, so hopefully Disney will provide an adequate amount of buses to meet the demand.

Avoid Skyliner Resorts During Closures

Skyliner

One of the reasons its so good to see Disney announce this news so far in advance is because guests should really avoid the Skyliner resorts during a refurbishment. The Walt Disney World resort hotels that are on the Skyliner route include Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney’s Riviera Resort.

Without the great transportation access the Disney Skyliner provides, the value for these resorts goes down considerably. This is because these resorts all come with an increased price tag due to the Skyliner access. So if you stay at one of these resorts when the Skyliner is closed, then you are paying a high price for an amenity you cannot use.

Walt Disney World lets guests know these Disney Skyliner refurbishment dates in advance so that guests can plan accordingly, and I’m happy to see this news come even earlier than usual. If you plan on visiting Walt Disney World in January, it’s always worth checking the Walt Disney World refurbishment calendar to be prepared.
