Disney World Expanding Return of Popular Perk to More Resort Hotels

As we previously reported, Walt Disney World was beta testing a popular perk for hotel guests that's meant to keep them in the Disney bubble especially in light of Universal Orlando's newest park, Epic Universe, opening this summer.

Walt Disney World has officially announced this exclusive benefit for resort guests with news that it's been expanded to include more resorts!

Airport Luggage Transfer Returns to Disney World

All Star Music Resort

Walt Disney World has updated their website with confirmation that the return of resort airline check-in service is now available for guests flying with Southwest Airlines. The service was initially only available at at Pop Century Resort during the beta testing phase and is now being expanded to all their value resorts which includes all three of the All Stars resorts plus Art of Animation.

Guests that stay at any of the value resorts, are flying with Southwest Airlines, and departing from Orlando International Airport (MOC) can utilize this resort airline check-in service starting today, April 3, at Walt Disney World.

This service is offered via a third party company, to read more about this company and their prior relationship with Walt Disney World read our initial reporting on this benefit and how it might connect to the return of Disney's Magical Express.

It is likely we will see this service expand to include more resorts, like the moderate and deluxe categories, at Walt Disney World in the future. For now, this is a great perk that value resort hotel guests can take advantage of!

How Airport Luggage Transfer Works at Disney World

Disney suitcases

Here is the step by step on how Disney World's Airport Luggage Transfer will work for guests staying at value resorts and using Southwest Airlines.

  1. At the start of your stay, stop by or call Luggage Assistance. Luggage Assistance is typically right next to the entrance of the lobby at most value resorts. Disney recommends leaving your inbound Southwest Airline tags on your bags.
  2. After you check in for your flight, drop off your bags at Luggage Assistance by the required drop off time. You will need to provide a valid form of photo identification in order to drop off your bags. You can also call Luggage Assistance from your in-room telephone to ask for help with your bags.
  3. After that, you just simply head to the airport and Disney takes care of the rest! You will just pick up your bags at baggage claim once you arrive at your destination.
  4. Don't forget to tip the cast members that work in Luggage Assistance, especially if you have them help with your bags from your hotel room!

Disney has noted on their website that this service is subject to change or cancellation without notice or liability.

When to Drop Off Your Bags for Disney World Airport Luggage Transfer

Luggage

Walt Disney World strongly encourages you drop off your bags the night before your schedule departure. This could be tricky especially if you need items to get ready in the morning before your flight!

So if you need a bit more time with your bags, here's the timeline Disney suggests:

  • When Flying Before 1:00 PM: Drop your bags off by 1:00 AM the night before your flight.
  • When Flying After 1:00 PM: Drop your bags off at least 4 hours before departure or no later than 1:00 PM—whichever comes first.

Luggage Assistance is available to receive luggage any time from 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM.

We hope this means more pre-pandemic perks, like the beloved Disney Magical Express or merchandise delivery services, are on the table for return in the future. Especially Disney's Magical Express which is the perk we miss the most!
