2027 is shaping up to be a big year for Walt Disney World. Disney’s first Encanto ride will open as part of a new theme park land, and elsewhere, a new resort hotel will open, joining the 20+ existing accommodations across the property. These are the next projects on deck as longer-term expansions also continue.
Disney World is making progress on its new hotel near Magic Kingdom, which will include one of the most expansive pool areas at any Disney resort. Today we’re taking a look at recent construction for this newest overnight option. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including limited-time Disney Vacation Club point discounts and the merchandise collection for Hallmark’s Disney Christmas movie.

Disney Lakeshore Lodge Opening in 2027

Disney Lakeshore Lodge is under construction at Walt Disney World, and set to open in summer 2027. The new hotel will participate in the Disney Vacation Club (DVC), so we expect it to be categorized as a “deluxe” resort for non-DVC guests.
Lakeshore Lodge is adjacent to Bay Lake, just across the way from Magic Kingdom. It’s situated very close to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, on the site of Disney’s now-closed first water park, River Country.

Lakeshore Lodge will consist of a tower with traditional guest rooms and suites, as well as lake houses close to the water and a campus full of recreational amenities.
Here’s a look at Lakeshore Lodge construction progress as of July 2026.

Lakeshore Lodge will boast one of the largest pool areas of any Disney World hotel. The main pool area is called The Wetlands, featuring the Daydream River, aka the lazy river, the Lakeshore Lagoon zero-entry pool, the Otter Springs water play area for young kids, and the Heron Shores dry playground.

Looking closer at Otter Springs, construction workers are making progress on building the larger-than-life interpretations of the area’s namesake critters, including a small slide on one of the otters’ tails.

A large exterior wall facing The Wetlands now displays a mural of trees. Lakeshore Lodge will include nods to nature-themed Disney movies, including Bambi, Pocahontas, and Brother Bear.

Separate from The Wetlands is Cypress Point, the hotel’s quiet pool. Adjacent to Cypress Point will be a hot tub. Disney says Cypress Point was intentionally placed in this exact spot to provide views of Magic Kingdom fireworks.

The Lakeshore Lodge boat dock seems complete. We expect Disney to provide hotel guests with complimentary boat transportation to Magic Kingdom.
