Disney World Announces Construction Closures for Animal Kingdom Lodge and Coronado Springs Hotels

The work of Walt Disney World maintenance teams extends beyond the parks to refresh and update the nearly two dozen resort hotels across Disney’s property. Two of those hotels have new construction work scheduled.

Refurbishments are coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. We have dates involved and how the construction work may impact guests. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including Disney World menu changes and a sale on Disney theme park tickets.

Construction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is a deluxe-tier resort divided into two sections: Jambo House and Kidani Village. The upcoming refurbishments will all take place at Kidani Village, and will span the next few months in phases.

Construction walls may be visible to guests in public areas, and active work may be audible at times. However, Disney is careful to limit hotel refurbishment noise and is mindful of performing the most intrusive work during times of the day when most guests are out in the parks.

Guests who prefer to avoid the construction work should be wary of the below dates, or opt for staying on the Jambo House side of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge instead of Kidani Village.

From August 17 to August 28, the Johari Treasures gift shop will be closed.

From August 17 to October 9, 2026, the main entrance and lobby of Kidani Village will be closed. Guests will instead check in at Palace Library.

From September 28 to October 9, Kidani Village’s north side lobby corridor will be inaccessible, including the second-floor elevators and the observation deck.

From October 26 to November 6, work transitions to the south side lobby corridor and more extensive closures, including Community Hall, Safari So Good Arcade, Palace Library, the laundry room, the lobby restrooms, and the observation deck.

WDW Magic reported the Kidani Village news.

Construction at Disney’s Coronado Springs

Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a moderate-tier resort, home to one of Walt Disney World’s large convention center spaces.

Coronado Springs’ convention center will be refurbished from August 10, 2026, through late September 2027. This 14-month project will be conducted in phases. It doesn’t seem like the entire convention center will be closed at any one point. Conventions will continue to take place, and work will be performed overnight.

Disney says El Centro Corridor, which connects the resort’s common spaces to the convention center, will also be refurbished, as well as “surrounding areas.”

Coronado Springs is where you can find some of our favorite Disney World hotel dining and a unique experience for adults.

We heard from members of Disney’s Facilities Asset Management (FAM) team earlier this year about how they approach resort refurbishments, and which hotels are next on their list.
