Disney Reveals CLOSING Date for Longtime Disney World Attraction and Sneak Peek of Its Replacement

There are several exciting new rides and experiences currently in the works for Disney World! Another key closure has been announced for a new Disney World addition that is expected to open later this year.

Construction has already started on the Tropical Americas land coming to Animal Kingdom, and the Muppet*Vision 3D closing date was recently announced for the Monsters, Inc. land coming to Hollywood Studios. Now, Disney has shared the closing date for It's Tough to Be a Bug, a longtime attraction at the park that is soon to be replaced by a new Zootopia show.

This year ushers in a major period of transformation for Animal Kindom as DinoLand U.S.A. is turned into a Tropical Americas land featuring Encanto and Indiana Jones and It's Tough to Be a Bug is replaced by a Zootopia show.

Disney has shared that It's Tough to Be a Bug will be closing permanently on March 17 to make way for the new “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” show coming to the space. The last day to experience this attraction will be March 16, 2025.

It's Tough to Be a Bug is one of Animal Kingdom's opening day attractions that opened with the park on April 22, 1998. The show has been running at the park for over two decades and still draws consistenly large audience! It's difficult to say whether the audience size is based on the popularity of the show or the lack of other attractions at Animal Kingdom that would pull guests away. As the work for the new expansion in DinoLand gets underway there will be even fewer different rides in this park. It's one reason that we typically spend a morning or half day here.

The new Zootopia show replacing It's Tough to Be a Bug will feature favorite characters including Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, taking the audience on an adventure through the different biomes of the film. Disney shared a behind-the-scenes clip of Ginnifer Goodwin recording for the upcoming show, which you can see below!
