Following successful theatrical releases including Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Toy Story 5 already this summer, Disney is looking to the future of its studio output with a lot of ambition. The slate ahead is filled with original stories, sequels to favorite films, and remakes of time-tested classics. News was just revealed about all of it. This follows other theme park news.

Coco 2 is coming to theaters in 2029! The sequel will take place several years after the original, and Miguel is now a teenager. He’ll return to the Land of the Dead and be reunited with Mama Coco. Benjamin Bratt will return to the cast as Ernesto de la Cruz.
Kingdom Hearts: The Series
The Kingdom Hearts video game series has been a fan favorite for over two decades, clashing the worlds of Disney animated stories together in an epic adventure. Just announced, the video games will be adapted into Kingdom Hearts: The Series, an animated show coming to Disney Channel and Disney+.
They also announced that the Kingdom Hearts 4 video game is coming and will feature characters from Coco.

Oswald
Oswald is a new, three-part limited series starring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, the animated character that Walt Disney created before Mickey.
The series will stream on Disney+ in February 2027. Oswald will be animated as he roams the live-action real world. Series creator Jon Favreau revealed that the series was shot in Disneyland, Walt’s office on the Disney Studio lot, and the location of the original studio.
The series will feature only hand-drawn animation. This received a loud cheer from the crowd during the presentation. They brought back previous Disney animators to work on the series.
Zootopia 3
Walt Disney Animation Studios officially announced that Zootopia 3 is in development. This comes as no surprise, as 2025’s Zootopia 2 is the highest-earning animated film ever. Disney also recently opened a Zootopia attraction at Walt Disney World.
The new film appears to be featuring the world of the birds. They also shared that both Judy Hopps and Gary De Snake will be returning in the sequel film.
Lilo & Stitch 2
A sequel to 2025’s live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch is coming to theaters in summer 2028. The sequel will be directed by Chris Sanders, the director of the original animated film and the longtime voice of Stitch.
Just revealed, Experiment 624, aka Angel, will be in Lilo & Stitch 2! She first appeared in Lilo & Stitch: The Series and has gained popularity in the Disney theme parks in recent years.
This is not a remake of 2005’s Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch. This movie tells a new story. The star of the recent movie, Maia Kealoha, will return. She was a natural presenter at D23.
Incredibles 3
Incredibles 3 is coming to theaters in summer 2028, and Pixar just revealed new concept art, pictured above, plus the storyline for the threequel.
The first film focused on Bob, the second on Helen, and now the third will spotlight the Parr children: Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack. They want to prove they’re ready to be real supers by sneaking out at night to protect the city.
Pixar teases that the supervillain in Incredibles 3 will have powers greater than those of the Parr family combined.
Bluey: The Movie
Bluey: The Movie is coming to theaters on August 6, 2027. The popular preschool series, which recently opened its own attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World, will hit the big screen in a computer-animated adventure, deviating from its usual art style.
The audience at the event saw a short preview that featured the keepy uppy balloon game.
X-Men
Marvel Studios is finally creating its own X-Men movie following the decades of X-Men films produced by 20th Century Studios. Disney revealed the official cast and release date for the MCU’s X-Men, in theaters May 5, 2028.
X-Men will star Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister, Maya Boyd as Storm, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Inde Navaratte as Rogue, and Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, reprising her role from Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Hexed
Hexed, the next film from Walt Disney Animation Studios, will be released in theaters on November 25, 2026. It stars Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones as a daughter and mother who enter a bewitching world.
Just announced, Jodie Foster will be part of the voice cast as Queen Celeste, and Walter Goggins will voice Beef Roger Crummchuck, the green character pictured above.
Frozen 3
Frozen 3 is coming to theaters on November 24, 2027. This will be the first-ever third installment of a film series created by Walt Disney Animation Studios. In the movie, Olaf will fall in love with a snowwoman.
Take a look at Elsa and Anna’s new wardrobe and hairstyles in the photo at the top of this article, and new formal wear for Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven above. These new looks were featured inside the Walt Disney Animation pavilion on the show floor of D23.
Live-Action Tangled
A live-action remake of 2010’s Tangled is now filming, and Disney just announced the movie will be released on March 31, 2028. The remake stars Teagan Croft as Rapunzel, Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, and Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel.
During the event Disney shared a video from the two main stars while they were filming in Spain. Kathryn Hahn appeared in person.
Ghost Market
Pixar revealed a new original movie, Ghost Market, coming to theaters in spring 2028. It’s about a boy who stumbles upon a market located at a crossroads between the living and the dead.
The boy is an always online content creator from Chicago who is sent to get off his screens in Hawaii. In the room they showed a teaser trailer that featured animated vertical video footage of the boy attempting to avoid the ghost on camera.
Ice Age: Boiling Point
Ice Age: Boiling Point, the sixth theatrical entry in the Ice Age series and the first to be under Disney’s distribution since purchasing 20th Century Studios, is coming to theaters in 2027.
Just announced, a “Jurassic-sized new addition” will be part of the proceedings. A giant squirrel!
Clay
Walt Disney Animation Studios announced a new original film, Clay, will debut in theaters in 2028. It stars Kieran Culkin, whose character is responsible for keeping tabs on a sentient ball of clay through a wild forest.
