How Much Does Lightning Lane Multi Pass Cost?

Several years after its introduction, Disney’s Lightning Lane Multi Pass service – its cost, set-up, and rules – is still shrouded in mystery to a lot of guests. This skip the line system at the Disney Parks allows guests to skip the long line for rides and pay for access to a shorter line.

But not after reading this guide! While Disney’s Lightning Lane Multi Pass service at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World borrows much of its structure from the previous FastPass and MaxPass systems, the cost of adding Lightning Lane Multi Pass to your Disney park ticket has gone through enough changes to make vacation planning overwhelming. Disney’s Lightning Lane Multi Pass Allows Quicker Access to Attractions

Genie Plus Cost Rock n Roller Coaster

Taking advantage of Disney’s Lightning Lane Multi Pass service gets you to ride and experience your favorite attractions sooner so you can get the most of your theme park day.

In the past, Disney utilized FastPass queues to allow guests with a valid FastPass to skip the stand-by queue and ride their favorite attractions quicker. Now, Disney utilizes these same queues for the Lightning Lane Multi Pass service, which according to Disney, allows you to skip the line to ride 2-3 attractions in a day. However, I have to disagree.

In my experience, I’ve been able to utilize Lightning Lane Multi Pass to ride at least 4 attractions at Magic Kingdom on a moderately busy day. I’ve even heard of friends being able to use Lightning Lane Multi Pass to get on 8 attractions! Talk about taking full advantage of the Lightning Lane Multi Pass cost.

Depending on how busy the Disney park is, Lightning Lane Multi Pass utility can surely outweigh its cost.

Individual Lightning Lane: What Makes it Different From Lightning Lane Multi Pass?

Genie Plus Cost Matterhorn

Disneyland and Walt Disney World also offer Individual Lightning Lane Entrances for select attractions – separate from the Lightning Lane Multi Pass service.

Guests can purchase an Individual Lightning Lane entrances to attractions that aren’t listed under the Lightning Lane Multi Pass service. The participating attractions are usually the most popular ones in the park, which explains why Disney set up separate costs. Additionally, unlike Lightning Lane Multi Pass, guests can only purchase Individual Lightning Lanes for up to 2 attractions per day, one at a time.

In short, the Individual Lightning Lane system must be purchased separately and works for qualifying attractions separate from the Lightning Lane Multi Pass service.

How Much Does Lightning Lane Multi Pass Cost at Disneyland Resort?

Genie Plus Cost Pluto

At Disneyland Resort, Disney Lightning Lane Multi Pass starts at $30 per ticket per day, but beware – prices may vary!

When purchasing a ticket and vacation package in advance, the cost for Lightning Lane Multi Pass is fixed at $30. However, this cost can vary if you’re purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass on the day of your theme park trip. This date-based pricing system means that the cost for Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be $30 on certain days or more on different days.

What does this mean? While specific costs are difficult to pinpoint, you’re more likely to expect increased prices for Lightning Lane Multi Pass during peak travel times of the year. This means higher prices during Halloween, the Holiday season, 3-day weekends, Spring Break, etc. During peak travel periods, the highest we've seen Lightning Lane Multi Pass reach has been $35 per person.

If you’re looking to save as much money as possible and you think that Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a great fit for your vacation, we recommend purchasing your Lightning Lane Multi Pass service in advance!

Is Lightning Lane Multi Pass Worth It?

San Fransokyo

Given the added cost of purchasing the Disney Lightning Lane Multi Pass service and the additional cost of purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane, many guests can see why avoiding these purchases might be a smart move.

However, there’s much more nuance to this. For example, if you and your family of 4 visit Disneyland or Walt Disney World 1 time per year or even 1 time every other year, you’ll likely want to make the best use of your time in the theme parks. And if you’re kids are in school or your work limits you from taking time off during lower crowd levels, you’re likely restricted to going to the theme parks during peak times.

This would be a perfect example where the cost of Lightning Lane Multi Pass will be worth your money.

On the other hand, if you’re traveling without kids or if you visit the theme parks multiple times per year, chances are you won’t be disappointed even if you’re unable to ride your favorite attraction due to the long standby queue. Or, you’re okay with waiting out the long standby queue because that might be all you want to do that day. In this example, you’re better off not purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass.

In the end, whether or not the cost is worth your money is highly individual.
