Discount Animal Kingdom Ticket Types

When visiting Walt Disney World, the first thing you need to decide is what type of ticket or package you want.

For the purposes of this article, we are looking at just purchasing park tickets, but you are able to book a resort and tickets or just a resort stay as well.

Currently, when booking tickets, you must have a park reservation in addition to your ticket. For date-based tickets, this policy ends on January 9, 2024. Also, if you choose the park hopper option, guests must wait until 2:00 PM to enter the second park of their choosing.

For discount Animal Kingdom tickets, there are multiple types of Walt Disney World tickets to choose from:

1-10 Day Base Ticket

You visit one theme park per day of your ticket.

For guests booking only 1 day tickets, the theme park needs to be chosen when booking for price specific to the park and no additional theme park reservation needs to be made.

1-10 Day Park Hopper Ticket

Guests can visit more than one park per day. Guests must make a theme park reservation for the first park they plan to visit. After entering that first park, Guests will be able to visit the next park starting at 2:00 PM until each park's regularly scheduled closure. The ability to visit a park is subject to the park's capacity limitations.

2-10 Day Park Hopper Plus Ticket

You can visit multiple theme parks each day of your ticket, plus enjoy a certain number of visits to other Walt Disney World fun based on the length of your ticket. For example, a 4-day ticket allows 4 visits and a 5-day ticket allows 5 visits.

For each visit, you can choose one of the following:

• Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
• Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park 
• ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
• Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course
• FootGolf at Disney's Oak Trail
• Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course (one round; prior to 4:00 PM)
• Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course (one round; prior to 4:00 PM)

2-10 Day Water and Sports Ticket

You can visit one theme park each day of your ticket. Plus, you get a certain number of visits to other Walt Disney World fun based on the length of your ticket. For example, a 3-day ticket allows 3 visits, and a 4-day ticket allows 4 visits.

For each visit, you can choose one of the following:

• Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
• Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park 
• ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
• Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course
• FootGolf at Disney's Oak Trail

Date Based Ticket Pricing Explained

Disney now offers discount Animal Kingdom tickets through date-based ticket pricing. This means that pricing is going to vary widely between a 1 day ticket to Animal Kingdom versus a 5 day base ticket.

1 Day Tickets

Walt Disney World is now offering Park Specific pricing for the 1-day theme park tickets. Prices will vary depending on what park you select to visit on which day. Magic Kingdom is typically the highest, Animal Kingdom typically the lowest, and Hollywood Studios & EPCOT fall somewhere in the middle.

When choosing a 1 Day Ticket, park hopper or not, you will choose the date you plan to visit one of the Walt Disney World theme parks and the ticket is only valid on that day.

2-10 Day Tickets (Multi-Day)

When purchasing a multi-day ticket, the Disney World Website gives you a calendar to pick the start date of your tickets. This will show you the price per day that you will pay for your whole trip.

You may be able to get a lower price on your tickets by starting your ticket window a day before or after your originally planned day. Tickets do not have to be used on consecutive days as long as they are used within the window booked.

Multi-day park ticket windows are:

1-Day Just the date you select
2-Day Any 2 days within 4 days after the start date
3-Day Any 3 days within 5 days after the start date
4-Day Any 4 days within 7 days after the start date
5-Day Any 5 days within 8 days after the start date
6-Day Any 6 days within 9 days after the start date
7-Day Any 7 days within 10 days after the start date
8-Day Any 8 days within 12 days after the start date
9-Day Any 9 days within 13 days after the start date
10-Day Any 10 days within 14 days after the start date

Packages are treated slightly differently, so the park ticket window doesn’t follow this exactly if you are booked as a room and ticket package.

How Much Can I Expect to Pay to Visit Animal Kingdom for 1 Day?

After reviewing the 1 day base ticket prices from January 2024 – December of 2024, the cheapest time to go to Animal Kingdom is August or September during a weekday. These tickets are the cheapest at $109 per adult.

The most expensive time to visit Animal Kingdom is March, April, November, and December with ticket prices reaching $164 for the weekends.

Animal Kingdom is the cheapest out of all four Disney parks, so if you are looking to spend just one day to enjoy the magic, Animal Kingdom is a great choice for your budget.

Wholesale Resale Stores Discount Animal Kingdom Tickets

Another way to save money is to go to Sam’s Club, Costco, or other wholesale resale stores that occasionally sell discounted Disney tickets on the floor. They don’t typically advertise when they are coming, so you just have to be in the right place at the right time.

How does this help me purchase my Animal Kingdom Ticket?

If you are able to purchase the cheapest annual pass as a Florida resident, you would only have to visit Animal Kingdom 3 times in a year to cover the cost of the pass at the highest ticket prices.

If you purchase the most expensive annual pass available to all guests, you would only need to visit Animal Kingdom 9 times that year (on the highest price day) to pay for your pass.

This math doesn’t even account for any additional theme parks you may consider visiting. In addition, there are great perks for annual passholders. Annual passholders get early previews for rides and merchandise, specialty merchandise, discounts for food, drinks, and entertainment, and complimentary parking. This could be a great way to save money if you plan on visiting the parks a lot in one year.

Final Verdict on Saving for your Animal Kingdom Day

While there are quite a few options to save money for multi-park days, there is not a great option to save money for just 1 Hollywood Studios day.
