The rumor of a new theme coming to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster staring Aerosmith has been circulating amongst the Disney adult fan communities for years.
Let's face it, Aerosmith has a central focus for this ride has become a bit tired especially since this band doesn't connect with younger guests the same way it does with us older fans.
Well, we finally got news of a brand new theme replacing Aerosmith for Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster and it's one we've been hoping would happen for years! This is the perfect way to transform this iconic attraction.

Muppets Replacing Aerosmith Theme for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
Walt Disney World announced this morning that to make room for the new Monsters, Inc. land coming to Hollywood Studios that the muppets will be “moving to Sunset Boulevard.” Muppet*Vision 3D is closing for good as part of this announcement.
Yes, that's right the muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster as they team up with some of “music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!” I am dying to know which of “music's biggest stars” are going to be incorporated into this ride. Taylor Swift anyone? That's a bit far fetched but once upon a time someone might have told me Muppets replacing Aerosmith was far-fetched too!
That said, if it were going to be Taylor Swift I have a feeling she would be the marquee name on this new attraction. So, we will have to wait and see which other stars will be incorporated here.
We expect that the ride itself will not change at all and instead the theming, iconic pre-show, and music elements will shift. Kind of like the retheme of Tiana's Bayou Adventure that opened this year.
This will be the first-ever Disney ride to feature The Muppets and Disney shared that there will be “laughter, screams and new tunes” for this new ride theme along with plenty of Muppets-themed merchandise.
There is no official closing date for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith and Muppet*Vision 3D but Disney shared that there is enough time to enjoy both before they start work and they will have more details to share next year.
We just wrote about how Disney needs to launch new attractions in the coming two years before their big new Disney World ride offerings come online. There we said that Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster was a clear choice for a retheme. We anticipate that the new attraction will turn around relatively quickly in order to give Disney something to promote during the coming years before the big new rides open. If they are able to move quickly, from a marketing perspective I expect that they will aim to open the ride by Summer 2026.
This is absolutely the right move to preserve the presence of the Muppets in Hollywood Studios. I have been arguing for years that we need more Muppets in the parks and this is a great consolation prize to losing Muppet*Vision 3D. The Aerosmith theme has long felt stale so this is an effective way to handle both problems at once.
We've heard rumors about this switch for a long time and are thrilled that the new Muppets roller coaster has finally been announced.

Muppets? Gah. That would be my worst nightmare on a coaster.
Yeah whoever wrote this article genuinely has no idea what they’re talking about 💀💀. Almost everyone who goes to hollywood studios will agree rock n roller coasters current theming is and forever will be perfect. There was no need to defile it with muppets. They should’ve demolished that moronic Launch bay area and put monsters there and kept muppet vision, which by the way was Jim Henson’s last project. I find it disrespectful to him and the fans. But go off disney
Rockin with Muppets? Bad decision. Put in another rock band.
