Stitch Takes Over Opening Day Attraction at Magic Kingdom As Part of Closures For Construction

Walt Disney World is about to go through some major changes with Rivers of America closing permanently to make way for a new Cars-inspired area and Villains land expansion.

Construction impacts to such a major area of the park have disrupted the Disney World Railroad route which will now have a new approach for guests experiencing this classic attraction. Disney decided to have some fun with this and brought in Stitch to narrate part of the journey!

Walt Disney World Railroad Impacted by Construction

The Rivers of America area of Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World closed permanently on July 7, 2025 for construction to begin to introduce a Cars-themed area and a Villains Land in a reimagined section of Frontierland. This closure also includes the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island.

The construction is also taking place right in the path of the Disney World Railroad. The route is now altered so guests can still enjoy the train since this construction will take years to complete. Instead of doing its full loop around the park, the Frontierland Station is now closed and the train goes back and forth between Fantasyland and Main Street, U.S.A. stations.

It is positive that Walt Disney World took steps to ensure that the Disney World Railroad remains open especially considering it was closed for the construction of TRON Lightcycle / Run from December 2018 through December 2022.

Stitch Joins Narration of Disney World Railroad

Stitch Pride Nite

The Disney World Railroad now features narration from Stitch as part of its journey as it travels from Main Street, U.S.A. to Fantasyland. You can hear Stitch as part of the audio narration with the train conductor as he points out scenery to guests on the journey.

As the train passes Tomorrowland, Stitch will welcome guests by stating, “To left, Morrow. To right, more Morrow. Stitch do good?” Stitch also calls out the Team Blue and Team Orange teams in TRON Lightcycle / Run by saying, “Team Blue? Stitch blue!”

Once the train reaches Fantasyland, it will travel backwards to Main Street, U.S.A. Disney has rearranged seating on the train so guests can face either direction so you can sit in the direction the train is moving.

Stitch doesn't actually make a live appearance on the Disney World Railroad, this is an audio recording only, but I do think this is a fun addition while the train operates in this temporary capacity.
