Backstage “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” Photos Reveal Priceless Disneyland Time Capsule

As you are wandering through the immersive Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland, have you ever wondered what is inside the Millennium Falcon?

Now, new photos have revealed that there is an incredible time capsule held inside of this icon. While Disneyland has been known to have made time capsules over the years, this is the first time we've heard about this one's existence in Galaxy's Edge. Inside the Millennium Falcon lies a chest with a plaque in Aurebesh (the writing system representing the Galactic Basic language from the Star Wars universe) containing a priceless piece of Disney history.

These photos were not released by Disney but posted on Reddit by someone who took them in this backstage area. Keep reading for more details on this special time capsule in Galaxy's Edge and what is inside!

What Is Inside the Galaxy's Edge Millennium Falcon Time Capsule

I had always assumed that inside the Millenium Falcon at Disneyland would be unthemed like other backstage areas in the park or that there would not be any interior of the structure at all. The new discovery that was shared on social media shows that there is in fact an interior of the structure and that it is themed to Star Wars.

Tim McKenny on Facebook shared a look inside the Millenium Falcon at Disneyland, with pictures courtesy of Reddit user u/RaysUpForLife. We do not condone taking photos backstage, but this incredible set of photos was too cool not to share. If anyone has any further information on the photos please comment what you know.

The photos contain the view looking from the gangway inside the Millenium Falcon to the outside as seen below:

Inside, there is a chest with a plaque with an inscription in Aurebesh. Again, I was super impressed that there is actually this kind of themed area inside the ship.

See a closer look at the plaque here:

The translation according to the Facebook user reads:

“In this smuggler's chest sits a very special piece of Disneyland's heritage. A retired castle spire from Walt Disney's time… representing the heart of his dream. It is the centerpiece of our happiness, our strength, our curiosity, and our imagination. And it carries the spirit our cast members (sic) who have shared their joy and inspiration to all the world. May the soul of this storied castle spire be the Force that powers our new Black Spire… Spreading Disney magic for generations to come.”

Inside the chest is a “retired castle spire from Walt Disney's time” that seems to have come from Sleeping Beauty Castle.

And inside the Blue Spire, there is a bottle of Skywalker pinot noir wine autographed by Disney executives:

It is incredible to know what is inside the Millennium Falcon and even better to be able to see a special piece of Disneyland history and the touching, beautiful inscription on the chest.

What is most surprising is that this time capsule was added to the ship without any ceremony or public record of its existence. From what we could remember and find looking back at the dates around the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge dedication there was never anything shared publicly about this capsule.

I also like that this is something that was done by Disney for the tradition and the novelty that wasn't shown off at all and wasn't used as marketing fodder for the land. Instead it was hidden away as a tribute back to the Disneyland of Walt Disney's time.
