NEW Character Meeting Guests at Disneyland

Disneyland is always adding new characters to greet guests, especially as new films and TV series debut. We have seen this consistently over at Avengers Campus in California Adventure as new Marvel characters appear frequently on the day of new TV and movie releases. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has also made moves lately to incorporate new characters into the land with the most recent of these being Ahsoka from the hit Disney+ series.

Now we have a new Disney character meeting guests at Disneyland to celebrate the release of the anticipated Disney animation film Wish.

NEW Character Appearing Now at Disneyland

Asha Disneyland

Asha from the new Disney film Wish will begin greeting guests at Disneyland starting today! Asha is the lead protagonist of the film and makes a wish so powerful that it’s answered by a cosmic force, a little ball of energy called Star. In the film, Asha must save her kingdom from King Magnifico.

Is Asha a Disney Princess?

Well, it’s complicated! Asha does not have the traditional Princess lineage that other Disney Princesses have had but her hero’s journey in the movie does reflect a similar one to the newer Disney Princesses we love. Disney is expanding what it means to be a Disney Princess in these films and many fans consider Asha a new Disney Princess. See our full guide to Disney princesses here!

Where is Asha Meeting Guests at Disneyland?

Asha will be appearing outside the Royal Hall in Fantasyland. This also gives some indication of her status as a potential new Disney Princess since she is meeting guests near the Royal Hall.

According to the Disneyland app, Asha will be right outside Royal Hall and she will be surrounded by trees, lanterns, pottery, banners, flowers, and architecture inspired by her home city of Rosas. The app also hints that guests may see signs of her friend Star at this meet-and-greet experience.

How long will Asha be meeting guests at Disneyland?

This meet and greet area appears to be interactive as the description also mentions that ‘magical stardust’ will make certain elements and plant life ‘grow and smile at guests’ so this is a good indication of a long-standing meet and greet. I expect Asha will be a regular part of Fantasyland for some time especially since the Wish film is Disney’s big animation movie for the holiday season.

New Popcorn Buckets & Sippers

New Disney popcorn bucket

Also new at Disneyland is The Valentino popcorn bucket and Star sipper which are available at Disneyland starting today. Popcorn buckets at Disneyland are a popular collector’s item so if you have your heart set on grabbing these new novelty items, I would suggest doing so right away!

World of Color Pre-Show

The World of Color- Season of Light will also feature a special pre-show dedicated to the film called The Wish.

Other activities around Disneyland to celebrate Wish include a free Wish activity packet at the front desk of the park including coloring pages, games, and more. Animation Academy will also feature Wish characters as part of their regular lineup of drawings.
