A set of popular Disneyland restaurants will soon be saying goodbye as part of the Downtown Disney reimagining, and Disney's website has new updates that reveal its closing date.
Catal, located right in the middle of Downtown Disney, is the upscale Mediterranean-inspired restaurant overlooking the promenade. Its interior offers a warm atmosphere, and its second-story open-air terrace provides the perfect vantage point to watch fireworks. Its outdoor bar, Uva Bar and Café, offers smaller bites, beer, and signature drinks.
Both restaurants are closing soon at the Disneyland Resort as part of the transformation of Downtown Disney.
What Will Replace Catal in Downtown Disney?
Catal is to be replaced by Michelin-starred Chef Gaytan's Paseo and Centrico. Paseo and Centrico, the two Mexican restaurants replacing Catal after its closing, will “offer guests a multi-sensory journey to the heart of Chef Gaytan’s homeland,” according to Disneyland.

Disneyland made these announcements at the D23 Expo when multiple new offerings were announced for Downtown Disney.
When Does Catal at Disneyland Close?
Catal and the UVA Bar will have a final day of operations on April 14, 2023. The restaurant will officially be closed on April 15, 2023. Previously the restaurant was listed on the Disneyland website as not accepting reservations after April 9, 2023 and we shared this as the expected Catal closing date.

Downtown Disney's Reimagining
This change is part of a larger reimagining of Downtown Disney that will introduce new and diversified dining, shopping, and entertainment to the area. The vision for the west end area is modern architecture inspired by Southern California mid-century, with “vibrant color palettes, design elements and patterns influenced by the region” and a lawn that will be used to host future events.
Among the changes listed is the addition of the famous, award-winning Din Tai Fung, a Taiwanese restaurant chain. Din Tai Fung is famous for its Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings), though its menu is extensive and offers several more delicious treats. The restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star at its Hong Kong branch, and its delicious food is sure to attract many visitors when it opens!
