1. Seasonal Decor Changes to Christmas

Disney World Christmas decorations

The Disney World holiday season officially kicks off on November 13, but decorations start going up immediately. Each year, Disney fans eagerly wait for the overnight transition from Halloween to Christmas at Magic Kingdom. Fans are so used to this quick transition that, when the heavy rain this year delayed it by a day, it resulted in plenty of upset social media posts. But now we’ve already started to see a large wave of decorations appearing, especially in Magic Kingdom.

While the holiday decor, along with most of the merchandise, may arrive before the official date, the entertainment and special foods at the parks won’t start until November 13. Once the holidays officially begin, there is a huge shift in entertainment and offerings.

2. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Closed for Refurbishment

Tiana's Bayou Adventure final scene

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure closed November 2 for its first routine refurbishment since opening in 2024. This popular ride is scheduled to reopen on December 18. Critter Co-Op, the merchandise location next to the ride, will also be closed during this time.

This means that one of the most popular rides in Magic Kingdom will be closed for a big stretch of the holiday season. When it reopens in December, there will likely be high demand, especially moving into the busiest weeks of the month.

3. Jingle Cruise Returns to Magic Kingdom

The Jingle Cruise has returned to Magic Kingdom for the holiday season and opened on November 3. The Jingle Cruise is a holiday version of the classic Jungle Cruise attraction at Magic Kingdom. During this seasonal overlay, the ride receives holiday decorations, the boats are given new holiday names, and the skippers tell new jokes with a holiday twist. This is a very popular attraction at Disney World during the holiday season.

The demand for this already popular Magic Kingdom attraction skyrockets when it transforms into the Jingle Cruise. This means that prioritizing Lightning Lane selections for this attraction will be key in November and December to avoid long crowds and lines.

4. Expect Holiday Crowds to Steadily Increase

Crowds at Disney World are going to start increasing as we begin heading into the holiday season. Some of the worst crowd levels we see all year happen during the week of Christmas leading into New Year’s Day. Other well-known busy periods this time of year include Thanksgiving week and Jersey Week, which is the week many New Jersey schools have off and head to Disney World.

Guests heading to Disney World for November and December should consult our Disney World Crowd Calendar for the best idea of which days will be expecting the worst holiday crowds.

5. Hollywood & Vine Switches Seasonal Overlays

Holiday and Vine

Hollywood & Vine has officially switched over to Minnie’s Holiday Dine as of November 4. The seasonal dining experience features festive holiday decorations throughout the restaurant. You can also expect to see Minnie and her friends dressed in their holiday-themed outfits.

Hollywood & Vine rotates its themes throughout the year, and this holiday theme is a guest favorite. Minnie’s Holiday Dine is expected to go until January 6, 2027.

6. New Hollywood Studios Holiday Overlays

Hollywood Studios has two holiday overlays on popular rides this year. First is Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets with a seasonal experience that changes the attraction’s pre-show, courtyard music, and onboard soundtrack. The overlay is scheduled to continue through January 6, 2027.

Alien Swirling Saucers will also bring back its seasonal soundtrack featuring holiday songs presented by DJ Lilypad and festive nighttime lighting. The most notable demand for these overlays will be for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, so expect Lightning Lane demand to rise for this attraction.

7. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party takes place on the following dates at Magic Kingdom on select nights at Magic Kingdom on November 8, 9, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, 24, 25, 27, and 29, as well as December 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17, 18, 20, and 22. The separately ticketed event runs from 7 PM to midnight, and guests can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4 PM.

The ticketed event at Magic Kingdom includes the popular Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas Parade, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show, character dance parties, and seasonal overlays of attractions. For guests who are attending Magic Kingdom and do not have a party ticket, it’s important to know that the park will close to regular guests at 6 PM.

8. Jollywood Nights Starts at Hollywood Studios

Jollywood Nights, the separately ticketed holiday event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, takes place on select nights on November 7, 14, 16, 21, 23, and 28; December 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, and 23; and January 3 and 5, 2027. The event takes place from 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM, and ticket holders can enter the park at 5:30 PM.

Jollywood Nights features special holiday entertainment, themed character interactions, themed food and drinks, and holiday entertainment. For guests who are attending Hollywood Studios and do not have a party ticket, it’s important to know that the park will close to regular guests at 7 PM.

9. Holiday Entertainment Comes to Animal Kingdom

The Merry Menagerie at Discovery Island, featuring puppets of penguins, reindeer, foxes, and polar bears, will return as part of the holidays at Animal Kingdom starting November 13. The puppets roam around Discovery Island and offer some of the most unique interactions for the holidays.

The “Tree of Life Awakenings Holiday Edition” has returned to the Tree of Life with a series of wintry tales and holiday-inspired musical scores. The show begins after sunset and typically runs every 10 minutes until the park closes.

10. EPCOT Swaps Out Its Festivals

The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will have its final day on November 21. The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival features a variety of international foods and wine selections and is very popular with guests. While the festival takes place, guests can expect higher crowd levels on evenings and weekends.

This will also leave EPCOT without a festival for five days until the International Festival of the Holidays begins on November 27. This holiday festival features holiday traditions from around the world, the popular Candlelight Processional, a gorgeous seasonal overlay on Living with the Land, and holiday food booths.

11. Popular EPCOT Overlay Attractions Return

Glimmering Greenhouses

The popular Glimmering Greenhouses overlay to the Living with the Land attraction returns on November 27 along with the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. During the holidays, they add special decor and lights throughout the attraction. This is also the only time of the year you will see high demand and long lines for this attraction.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will also bring back its popular holiday overlay on November 25, which includes a seasonal soundtrack. The holiday version replaces the ride’s usual music with a Christmas-themed song.

12. Holiday Ticketed Entertainment Becomes Available

Magic Kingdom parade

Once Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party ends on December 22, the fireworks and parade become part of the daily entertainment at Magic Kingdom. This is great news for those visiting during the holidays. You get access to most of the same great party entertainment.

This means regular day guests can view Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks and twice-daily runs of Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade. While holiday crowds will be high, this is also a great advantage to visiting Magic Kingdom this time of year.
