Walt Disney World occasionally closes even its most popular offerings for necessary maintenance and regular upkeep to ensure guests’ safety and to preserve Disney’s high-quality standards. Some attractions require more consistent closures than others, and this is especially true of water rides. Water-based attractions in the Walt Disney World theme parks generally need annual closure periods, which usually happen in the winter, and the Disney water parks close for months at a time every year.
Walt Disney World announced the end date of a refurbishment that’s been ongoing for a while now, and simultaneously revealed another refurbishment on the way. We have details on those dates and how to plan your trip accordingly. Disney always makes sure one water park remains open for guests, unless there’s inclement/chilly weather. It’s rare for Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach to be open at the same time, but it does happen occasionally, such as last summer.
Currently, Typhoon Lagoon is closed, and Blizzard Beach is open. Disney has now shared the dates when their schedules will switch.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will reopen on January 27, 2027. In turn, Disney’s Blizzard Beach will close for seasonal refurbishment on January 27. The last day to visit Blizzard Beach before the closure will be January 26.
Disney has not announced any new experiences to expect at Typhoon Lagoon when it reopens, other than general freshening up. The reopening date of Blizzard Beach has also not been revealed.
Earlier this fall, Disney relaunched the Disney Water Park Seasonal Pass, granting admission to both Walt Disney World water parks through May 15, 2027, excluding a few blockout dates. The pass costs $89 for guests ages 10+ and $83 for guests ages 3-9.
