Disney World Making Changes to Roller Coaster For 1 Day Only Celebration

Walt Disney World has been increasingly opening attractions that have multiple variations of the ride experience. The different possibilities introduce an element of surprise about which version riders will experience. There is one day a year, though, when all guests get the exact same version of a popular ride, and everyone is totally okay with it.

Disney World confirmed it will once again change a roller coaster for a one-day-only celebration. This year’s festivities also include a limited-time drink. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including 8 Disney theme park holiday season announcements and new free perks at every Disney World hotel.

The 21st Night of September at EPCOT

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Starblaster and Spaceship Earth

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT in Walt Disney World takes riders on a spinning roller coaster ride through the stars, helping Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy superheroes save the universe.

The coaster’s signature move is its backward launch, at which point Star-Lord’s mixtape blasts a randomized song among six possible tune choices:

  • “Conga” by Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine
  • “Disco Inferno” by The Trammps
  • “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears
  • “I Ran (So Far Away)” by A Flock of Seagulls
  • “One Way or Another” by Blondie
  • “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire

The Earth, Wind & Fire song famously begins with the lyrics, “Do you remember the 21st night of September?” before eventually leading into a repeating chorus belting “Say, do you remember? Dancing in September!” You might see where this is going.

Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind ride vehicles at EPCOT

Disney has confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will play “September” for every ride cycle, all day long, on September 21, 2026, as it has in years past. On September 21, “September” will be the only song played on the roller coaster, and riders will not hear any of the other five selections.

To tie in with the celebration, EPCOT will serve a one-day-only specialty drink, the Supernova Sip. The beverage contains spicy hot honey syrup, lemon juice, and edible glitter, topped with cotton candy. The Supernova Sip will be available at Connections Eatery near the front of the park, only on September 21.

Following Cosmic Rewind’s lead, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets introduced several different song possibilities when that new version of the classic Disney’s Hollywood Studios thrill ride debuted earlier this year. Guests might hear favorite Muppet characters rocking out with Questlove, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, or Def Leppard.

EPCOT is in the middle of its annual International Food & Wine Festival with dozens of unique menu items throughout the park, now through November 21. We loved one of them so much that we went back for seconds. The event also features free concerts with celebrity musicians.

In addition to Cosmic Rewind, one of EPCOT’s most popular rides is Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which Disney just changed for the better.
