Disneyland Resort pulled out all the stops for its 70th anniversary celebration, including the return of two nighttime spectaculars from the park’s history that fans love: the Paint the Night parade and the Wondrous Journeys fireworks show. As the anniversary festivities conclude, so do these limited-time entertainment favorites, along with a few other offerings.

Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Celebration Ending
Disneyland’s 70th birthday was July 17, 2025, but the anniversary celebration has been ongoing for 15 months. It kicked off in May 2025 and continues through August 2026 with special entertainment, birthday décor on Sleeping Beauty Castle, exclusive merchandise, and limited-time food.

Two favorite nighttime productions at Disneyland Park made their triumphant return as part of the 70th anniversary party. Paint the Night, a next-generation take on the park’s former Main Street Electrical Parade, had last performed in 2018 before its 2025 comeback.
Wondrous Journeys, a fireworks and projections show featuring every movie Walt Disney Animation Studios has ever made, originally debuted for the Disney100 celebration in 2023. During this show, the Bluey Fairy from Pinocchio and Baymax from Big Hero 6 fly over Sleeping Beauty Castle on the zip line usually reserved for Tinker Bell.
Now that the birthday festivities are winding down, these productions will take their final bow. The final day of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration will be August 9, 2026, but Paint the Night and Wondrous Journeys will stick around just a little bit longer.
What’s Ending After Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary
August 9, 2026, will be the final day at Disneyland Resort for guests to experience:
- 70th anniversary decorations, including the castle’s birthday makeover
- The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade, a mini-parade in the daytime featuring Mickey and friends
- 70th anniversary merchandise, including the viral Key to Disneyland activity
- 70th anniversary food menu items
- World of Color Happiness!, a special version of the nighttime water fountain show at Disney California Adventure starring the emotions from Inside Out and featuring a Muppets pre-show
The large 70th anniversary sculpture in the Esplanade, the central plaza between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, is already being dismantled as of late July 2026.
Replacing World of Color Happiness!, starting August 10, World of Color – ONE will return to Disney California Adventure for a limited time. This iteration of the show first performed in 2023, and features the song “Start a Wave” and moments from Encanto, Coco, Star Wars, and Avengers: Endgame, among other Disney stories.
Note that World of Color – ONE will not perform on August 13 to accommodate the one-night-only Disney Princess: The Ultimate Concert as part of D23 Day at Disneyland.
Disney has not announced how long World of Color – ONE will continue performing, just that it will only be in the park for a limited time.
As for a replacement for The Celebration Happy Cavalcade, Disneyland’s annual Halloween Time programming begins on August 21, 2026, including The Mickey and Friends Halloween Cavalcade, featuring favorite Disney characters dressed in spooky costumes. Paint the Night and Wondrous Journeys Ending
This brings us to Paint the Night and Wondrous Journeys. Even though the rest of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary lasts through August 9, both Paint the Night and Wondrous Journeys will continue to perform for a few more days.
The final day to see Paint the Night and Wondrous Journeys is August 20, 2026.
At the time of this writing, Paint the Night is scheduled for 8:45 PM and 10:45 PM nightly. Wondrous Journeys is scheduled for 9:35 nightly. These times are subject to change. Note that Wondrous Journeys will feature fireworks for the remainder of its run, rather than opting for the projections-only version of the show.
Starting August 21, there will be no nighttime parade at Disneyland Resort. Also starting August 21, Halloween Screams will perform at Disneyland Park, with fireworks on some dates and with only projections on others.
Disney said the decision was made to keep Paint the Night and Wondrous Journeys for a few days after the official ending of the 70th anniversary so that guests traveling into town for D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, happening August 14-16 at the nearby Anaheim Convention Center and Honda Center, could enjoy the productions as part of their visit.
What’s Not Ending After Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary
Several attractions that debuted for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary are sticking around after the celebration is over.

Walt Disney – A Magical Life, a biographical presentation featuring the first-ever Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt himself, was a permanent addition to the park when it opened in 2025. It’s not going anywhere and continues to perform in the Main Street Opry House at the front of the park, a space it shares with Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. The two attractions rotate a schedule throughout the day. Currently, Walt takes over for Lincoln starting at 2:00 PM.
Another Audio-Animatronics figure depicting Walt is currently being installed in Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom in Florida, and is set to debut there in 2027.
Tapestry of Happiness opened with the 70th anniversary as a projection show performed on the façade of “it’s a small world” and designed in the style of the late Mary Blair, an incredible Disney artist of Walt’s day. Disneyland currently lists showtimes for Tapestry of Happiness continuing at least through September 9, 2026, the farthest-out date that showtimes are displayed at the time of this writing. The show features “Celebrate Happy,” the 70th anniversary theme song, performed by Jonas Brothers, who will be inducted as Disney Legends at D23 2026.
