Walt Disney World is in the process of transforming a beloved ride into a revamped experience starring the one and only Indiana Jones. New information about this upcoming attraction was unveiled, including an original storyline and “revolutionary Audio-Animatronics figures.”

Indiana Jones Ride Coming to Disney World
An Indiana Jones ride is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World as a reimagining of the former DINOSAUR ride, which permanently closed in February 2026. The new version of the ride will retain DINOSAUR’s Jeep ride vehicles and basic infrastructure, but transform the scenery and placemaking to tell a new story.
The updated ride will debut as part of the new Tropical Americas land, which will also include an Encanto ride. Unlike Indiana Jones, though, the Encanto ride is being built from the ground up rather than repurposing an existing attraction. As a whole, Tropical Americas replaces DinoLand, U.S.A.

The attraction will inherently share similarities to Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland, including the ride system. However, the story will be completely different. This time, the journey involves riders joining Indy on a quest inside a Mayan temple. A pyramid will greet guests at the attraction’s entrance, with all traces of the previous Dino Institute setting gone.
The above information was revealed in 2024. As part of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, on August 15, 2026, Disney revealed the future of its theme parks during a presentation called Horizons: A Carousel of Progress. This included new details about the Indiana Jones ride opening at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The official title of the Indiana Jones ride coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom is Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent.
Harrison Ford is officially returning to his legendary Indiana Jones role, serving as the model for the Imagineers as they bring a new Indiana Jones Jones Audio-Animatronics figure to life.
The ride will take place in the 1950s, before the events of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the fourth film in the Indiana Jones film.
Within the storyline of the ride, Dr. Jones is exploring a passageway that leads directly into the Maya Underworld, protected by a serpentine creature. Riders are sucked into a portal to the Underworld, where they’ll have to escape the dangers within.
Toward the end, riders will come face to face with a huge new Audio-Animatronics snake figure.
Along with the rest of Tropical Americas, the Indiana Jones ride will open in 2027. Disney has not announced an exact opening date or season.
This marks the second Indiana Jones attraction in Walt Disney World, following the debut of Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! at Disney-MGM Studios (now Disney’s Hollywood Studios) in 1989.
