Disney Up-Cycling Seatbelts from Soarin’ Over California

The event is offering multiple fun merchandise opportunities, including a merchandise store from the Disney Experiences auction featuring affordable items from Disney Parks resort hotels, cruise lines, and more that guests can take home.

The Walt Disney Company store is one of the largest merchandise stores at the event, which will feature an all-new collection from HARVEYS with one-of-a-kind designs developed through decommissioned seatbelts from Soarin’ Over California. The teaser image for the store offers a first look at new bags made from real seatbelts from the attraction!
HARVEYS is a California-based handbag company that is known for creating bags made from repurposed car seatbelts. The brand has a history of partnering with Disney for exclusive collections inspired by Disney parks, attractions, and characters.

A closer look at the photos in the preview image shows the two types of bags that will be offered. A smaller purse featuring the iconic seatbelt clasp that reads Soarin’ will be centered in the front with a strap featuring Mickey wearing the Soarin’ pilot cap and the name of the attraction.

The collection will also feature a small wallet with the Soarin’ buckle centered in the front. The interior of both the purse and the wallet will likely feature the same design that’s on the purse strap.
Guests attending the event can also have their handbags signed by Dana and Melanie Harvey, the creators of HARVEYS, on Friday.
All the merchandise at The Walt Disney Company Store is subject to availability. It’s hard to say how many quantities the store will have for this collection. The last D23 fan event featured a HARVEYS purse for the Haunted Mansion 65th anniversary, but stock was plentiful during the event. However, since these purses are made with actual Soarin’ Over California seatbelts, it’s hard to say how many were made.
Fans will be able to access The Walt Disney Company Store via virtual queue on Friday, August 14, with a standby queue option opening after all boarding groups have been redeemed. Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16, will offer standby queue options only.

The Walt Disney Company Store will also feature brand collaborations from RSVLTS, Nike, Loungefly, and collections showcasing fan-favorite Disney animated Epic Rivals and iconic Walt Disney Studios landmarks. The store will also be introducing a collection inspired by Walt Disney’s iconic office in Burbank, California (Suite 3H) in collaboration with Walt Disney Archives.
