Disney does not actively specify the reasoning for ride closures. The attraction is currently listed for standard refurbishment. The interactive Pixar Pier ride is a favorite for families and competitive groups, so guests visiting this Spring may want to plan accordingly.
Refurbishments are common at Disneyland Resort and typically involve routine maintenance, technical updates, or show enhancements designed to maximize guest enjoyment. There are three types of maintenance at Disneyland: safety/regulatory checks which happen nightly, response maintenance if an issue occurs during a normal day, and scheduled refurbishments for bigger maintenance or improvements. This is the third one.
The new Toy Story 5 movie comes out on June 19, 2025. Could we see characters from the new movie added into the attraction? We are getting a new Toy Story experience at Disney World.
Attractions occasionally close in either park for short-term maintenance or longer projects, so it’s always a good idea to check the latest updates before your visit.
At Disneyland Park, several other attractions are also currently closed or will be closing this Spring with unknown opening dates. Jungle Cruise, a classic boat ride that takes guests on a humorous tour through jungle rivers around the world, is not operating at this time.
Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, a dark ride located in Mickey’s Toontown where guests spin their ride vehicles through cartoon scenes, will close on March 30. Additionally, the Disneyland Monorail will also close the same day. The Monorail is both a transportation system and an attraction, offering an elevated ride between Tomorrowland inside Disneyland Park and the Downtown District shopping area.

Over at Disney California Adventure, Grizzly River Run is also closed. This whitewater-rafting-style attraction sends guests through rapids and waterfalls around Grizzly Peak.
Water rides like this often close seasonally or for maintenance, particularly during cooler months, though Disney has not shared a reopening date in this case. Because reopening dates can change, it’s important to check current updates on our Disneyland refurbishment guide before your trip.
This closure also comes during the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival which runs from March 6 through April 27, 2026. See all the details on that event here.
